Two people captured the scene where Jeffrey slapped Sadie. The slap was so loud it made everyone shudder. Jeffrey looked at his hand, then at Sadie’s swollen cheek.

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Peter roared, striding over. He was furious to find a reporter and cameraman present, especially since they had filmed the incident.

The reporter remained unfazed by Peter’s approach.

“We’re here to interview Mrs. Williams about her recovery. Why isn’t she being cared for by the children she raised? Instead, they requested her estranged biological daughter do so.

“Is Mrs. Williams afraid her children are too tired? Does she think she can use her estranged daughter at will?

“How do you feel about this, especially you, Samuel? As a public figure with many followers, isn’t your ungrateful behavior setting a bad example?

“Mr. Jeffrey, you just hit Ms. Sadie without hesitation. That’s incredibly violent! She just had a leg amputated and is in a very fragile state. How could you do that?”

The reporter’s sharp questions enraged everyone. Peter stepped forward, raising his hand to strike them.

The reporter stepped back, warning, “Hitting someone is illegal! I’ve recorded your abuse of a patient. Even if you deny it, no one will believe you.”

“That was a misunderstanding! My dad didn’t mean to hit my mom!” Samuel denied frantically. They were incredibly unlucky; their care for Sadie hadn’t been filmed, but their father’s assault was caught on camera.

The reporter remained unconvinced. Sadie, lying on the hospital bed, was dazed from the slap, her face visibly swollen. The scene strongly suggested patient abuse.

“I think you should all act more kindly,” the reporter declared, giving the cameraman a look. They quickly left the room.

Peter tried to catch them but failed, leaving the room in eerie silence.

Sadie felt a sharp pain in her chest. Covering her face, she unexpectedly began to laugh. Her silent laughter sent chills down everyone’s spines.

Jeffrey was furious. He lost control, slapping her again.

“What are you laughing at? This is all because of you! Can’t you just behave? You’re already a cripple and still causing so much trouble!”

Holding his phone, Jacky immediately found Skylar. She had just finished work and was surprised by his hurried arrival.

“What’s so urgent?” she asked. His leg was still recovering; why the rush?

“Look at this news about the Williamses! They abused a patient and even threatened the reporter! They’re capable of anything!” Jacky exclaimed.

Skylar looked at the news. A picture clearly showed Jeffrey’s hand on Sadie’s face, Sadie’s eyes wide with fear. The reporter had captured the scene perfectly, highlighting Jeffrey’s viciousness and the children’s cold indifference.
