Chapter 484
Skylar's expression turned serious when she learned Jeremy was having an affair. She gently suggested, "Let's calm down. I brought two of your favorite milkshakes. Let's sip them and relax. Then, tell me how you discovered he's cheating."
Natalie gradually calmed down as Skylar consoled her. After closing the door, they curled up on the couch. Skylar patiently waited, recalling Annabelle's repeated mentions of "Mr. Hughes." Were they the same person?
An hour passed, but Natalie still hadn't arrived home. Jeremy's heart pounded with trepidation. He'd called her repeatedly, but she didn't answer. He finally called Hank, who said Natalie had left long ago. Hank had no reason to lie.
Why wasn't Natalie home? Jeremy clenched his jaw and ordered, "Find my wife."
He lit a cigarette. Smoke curled around him as he frowned. He knew Natalie better than anyone; she wouldn't disappear without reason. Even when surprising him, she'd return excitedly.
Two hours had passed since their last call. Horror gripped Jeremy. He called his men, ordering, "Check for accidents tonight."
He regretted not picking Natalie up himself or sending his driver. Jipsburg cab drivers were reckless, ignoring traffic rules when unsupervised.
"Natalie, you have to be alright!"
While Jeremy searched for Natalie, Skylar calmed her down. She examined the messages for clues. The profile picture's jewelry looked familiar. However, Skylar focused on the messages, prenatal medical reports, and the hospital mentioned. She also noticed the sender's boastful, almost belligerent tone.
Natalie took a large gulp of her milkshake. The sweetness seemed to soothe her; her breathing eased, and her gloom lessened.
"Her pregnancy coincides with Jeremy's frequent business trips. I barely saw him thenโonly once or twice a month. He distanced himself, sometimes going weeks without texting."
"Skylar, she's telling the truth. Jeremy cheated."
Skylar enlarged an ultrasound, noting the hospital name. She said solemnly, "If Jeremy cheated, his mistress is probably Annabelle."
Natalie was stunned. "Annabelle?" she repeated incredulously. Jeremy's secretary, the stunning woman she never thought he'd be interested in?
Natalie felt her blood run cold. Had Annabelle gone to see her? Not to see her favorite actor?
"That explains the jealousy in her eyes last time we met."
