Chapter 492
Internally, Annabelle rejoiced. She was ecstatic about the commotion their affair had caused. Natalie detested Jeremy and had no intention of reuniting with him.
Jeremy glared at Annabelle disdainfully, a stark contrast to his gaze towards Natalie. She felt his hatred radiating, murderous intent gleaming in his eyes. She felt like an embarrassment to him, a realization that intensified her terror.
Jeremy coldly scanned Annabelle before asking, "Was this your doing?"
Annabelle's heart leaped. She stammered, "No, of course not! How could I? I promised to be a good girl. I wouldn't covet what I can't have."
"It better not have been you," Jeremy stated coldly.
Terrified of discovery, Annabelle avoided his gaze.
"Let's go to the hospital first," Jeremy said, turning to his bodyguards. "Keep an eye on her. Ensure the operation is performed."
Annabelle lost her composure. "Mr. Hughes, please! This is our child," she pleaded.
Jeremy remained unmoved. "It seems you're not so good after all. Don't you know how I handle my enemies?"
The thought of Natalie's hateful gaze and her determined request for a divorce made Jeremy's temples throb; he felt an overwhelming urge to wring Annabelle's neck.
An hour later, Skylar and Natalie arrived at Natalie's house. En route, Skylar had contacted a lawyer friend from high school, who provided a divorce agreement template.
Natalie wanted nothing from Jeremy; she only desired a swift divorce. The lawyer suggested using Jeremy's affair to secure a share of his assets. The Hughes family was wealthy, and Jeremy possessed countless assets. A division of assets could allow Natalie to live like a queen for life.
After hearing this, Natalie told Skylar, "I find Jeremy and his money abhorrent. If I need money, I'll earn it myself. I just want a divorce."
Skylar respected Natalie's decision and added, "If Jeremy's infidelity was beyond his control—if he was seduced—would you forgive him?"
Based on Annabelle's situation, the porcelain vase she wanted repaired was likely used on Jeremy. Someone had also inquired about it on Amazon, and Annabelle had refused. That person's profile picture strongly resembled Annabelle's Instagram profile picture, suggesting they might be the same person.
Natalie forced a smile. "No, I won't forgive him. I don't care about the reasons. He cheated."
Chapter 492
"Skye, you've been through this. Were you as devastated as I am now about Christopher's affair? I'm sorry I didn't support you then." Natalie's relationship with Jeremy mirrored Skylar's with Christopher. She knew Skylar's sacrifices for Christopher and Amelia.
"It's not the same," Skylar replied. "I stayed with Christopher out of habit and a promise. In high school, he pursued me relentlessly. I didn't know love then. I thought I liked him, but it wasn't romantic. You and Jeremy, on the other hand, grew up together and have been in love for ages."
Having overcome Christopher's betrayal, Skylar could now reflect. She knew Jeremy adored Natalie, but she believed their divorce wouldn't be easy; Jeremy wouldn't let go easily.
Natalie grinned self-deprecatingly. "Growing up together means the spark is gone. He disregarded me completely to seek it elsewhere. Maybe he still loves me, but I don't want it."
