Chapter 509

The Hughes family called it love, but Andrew never believed in it. And now, here was Jeremy, embroiled in an extramarital affair. Andrew's gaze suddenly shifted to Skylar, a woman he hadn't noticed before. Looking closer, his eyes widened. She was strikingly beautifulโ€”enchanting, pure, with a scholarly elegance.

"Natalie, care to introduce?" Andrew asked. He'd had many girlfriends, but this was the first time a woman had stunned him at first sight.

Natalie's face darkened, seeing Andrew's gaze on Skylar. "She's my friend. If you're finished, I won't disturb you, Andrew. My friend and I have things to discuss." Her intention to dismiss him was clear. However, Andrew, seemingly oblivious, sat down, his gaze fixed on Skylar. "What's your name, beauty? Let's exchange WhatsApp contacts and chat later."

"Sorry, I don't want to," Skylar replied coldly.

Andrew narrowed his eyes. "Do you know who I am?"

While Jeremy was known as a business genius, Andrew was Marvin's favorite within the Hughes family. Many women pursued him, but Skylar didn't give him a second glance.

Natalie rolled her eyes. "That's my sister-in-law. Andrew, are you trying to charm her? My cousin's a detective; even the toughest criminals beg for mercy in front of him." Natalie was incredulous. She couldn't believe Andrew thought he could charm Skylar, right in front of her. Who did he think he was? The Hughes men weren't good people, except for Morton. Anyone marrying into the family was unlucky.

Skylar, hearing "sister-in-law," decided that after Natalie's situation was resolved, she would reveal her marriage to Joe. It wasn't ideal for Natalie to continue misunderstanding.

Andrew hadn't expected the beautiful woman to be married. He'd been with married women before, but a detective's wifeโ€ฆ? Even stunning, he didn't want to be involved; he feared trouble. It could be a huge mess. He wondered if such a beautiful woman had ever considered marrying into wealth. Marrying a detective and living a tough life wasn't smart.

"What do you take me for, Natalie? You've misunderstood. I have things to do. Go ahead and eat. This meal's on me. Enjoy," Andrew said generously, leaving.

Natalie bluntly refused. "We've already paid. Thanks."

Andrew's face stiffened, his demeanor turning cold. Without another word, he went straight to the innermost private room. Even in the noisy restaurant, they could hear people calling him "Mr. Hughes."

"This is so unlucky. How did we end up meeting him in a city as big as Jipsburg? I don't want to see anyone from the Hughes family except Jeremy's parents," Natalie said, her face darkening. Though she hated Jeremy for cheating, it was his fault. Morton and Eleanor treated her well, and both families got along. The thought of their divorce affecting them made her want to avoid the whole situation. She didn't know how to confront them.

Skylar put some prawns in Natalie's bowl. "No need to let him affect your mood. He's not worth it."

"Skye, you're right. He's not worth it."

As they laughed and chatted, Andrew took a photo of them and sent it to Jeremy with the message: "Is your wife really considering divorcing you?"
