The Silvers had gotten into trouble recently. Why had they sent Annie to the gala? Her parents attended as well. Were they trying to appear wealthy? This transformed the boring gala into an intriguing event.

It was 7:00 p.m. when Skylar left the set. She'd had a wonderful conversation with Brigham. Toward the end, he invited her to be his consultant for his next film. The pay was excellent. He even cast Charles as one of the three leads on the spot.

She accepted immediately.

This was Charles's first leading role, directed by Brigham. If he was lucky, he could go viral after the film's release.

He was dumbfounded to learn he'd be one of the three leads in Brigham's film! The entertainment industry buzzed with rumors that his film would be the only billion-dollar investment this year. Many people desperately sought an audition. Who knew he'd be in it?

Charles's mind raced with the wonderful news. He was overwhelmed. When he finally processed it, he realized it was all because of Skylar. She'd become someone he could rely on. Brigham's attitude toward him had improved considerably.

His talent manager, upon hearing the news, suggested celebrating with champagne. He also praised his sister—she was amazing! Charles didn't need to hear that; Skylar had always been capable. Still, it was fun to enjoy the fruits of her labor without lifting a finger. Who knew this day would come? Charles chuckled to himself. He was ecstatic. Tonight, he would brag to Steven.

As everyone prepared for the next scene, a figure followed Skylar as she left, unnoticed.

The set was far from the parking lot—a ten-minute walk.

Soon, Skylar reached her car. As she was getting in, someone grabbed her. She reacted instinctively.

Just as she was about to throw him over her shoulder, he said, “You really are something, Skylar! You're merely working for Mr. Gardner Senior, yet you used him to trick Mr. Cohen into giving Charles a leading role. I underestimated you. You're a scheming woman!”

It was Samuel. He spat the words through gritted teeth.

“Who is your biological brother? Charles isn't related to you by blood. I am your brother!”

Skylar should have been helping him regain his footing in the industry, not Charles.

Skylar found him amusing. She pushed Samuel away. Looking at him properly, she saw he looked much worse than when they'd met at the mall. Many of Samuel's contacts had abandoned him. He'd fallen from grace, which explained his cold demeanor and stooped posture. He seemed to avoid eye contact, perhaps unconsciously.

“I have nothing to do with the Williamses. When will you get smarter? Take a lesson from Peter and leave me alone. Why are you deliberately seeking trouble?” Skylar said icily.

“Even if you don't want to admit it, you are still our parents' daughter. You should be helping the Williamses right now. Have you forgotten how you tried to appease me?” Samuel, probably hungry, spoke weakly. His voice sounded chilling in the night. His eyes remained fixed on Skylar.
