Paul sighed in relief when he heard Skylar would arrive in a few minutes. He closed the door and stood outside. He called Joe's doctor and described Joe's condition. After listening, the doctor smiled and said, “He’ll be fine. Isn’t Skylar arriving soon? She’ll be more effective than medicine. You should plan the demise of those perpetrators rather than worry about Joe.”

Paul was well-versed in handling such matters. In the past, Joe's doctor had come to help, but Joe had suffered immensely. Thankfully, he had Skylar now.

Soon, Skylar arrived. "What's going on?" she asked.

Paul had no time to explain. Joe was probably taking a cold shower. He opened the door, pushed Skylar inside, and said, “Mr. Martin has been drugged with an aphrodisiac.”

Skylar, confused, was pushed into the room, exclaiming, "What?" The door slammed shut. She walked in slowly, hearing water running in the washroom. Her heart pounded. Joe had ingested an aphrodisiac. She knew her role.

The bathroom door was ajar, revealing Joe's haste. Skylar gently opened it further. There was no steam; she felt a chill as she entered the shower area. Was Joe taking a cold shower? Indeed, she saw his muscled figure.

She got an even better view when he looked up. Joe was tall, broad-shouldered, with a sharp jawline and an aloof expression. He was perfectly formed; his attractive muscles were the object of any woman's desire. However, his eyes gleamed coldly, like a noble king surveying his kingdom from a mountaintop.

His voice, hoarse but sexy, asked, "Annie?"

Skylar's face fell. "Annie?" she repeated. She remembered seeing Annie while parking, with a middle-aged couple—presumably her parents. They seemed rushed; Skylar, preoccupied with seeing Joe, hadn't thought much of it. But was Joe calling Annie's name because he liked her? If so, why had he treated her so coldly in the past, even taking action against the Silvers? Was there some backstory she didn't understand?

Since Annie seemed to be the person Joe most wanted to see, Skylar decided to leave. The name he spoke at this moment undoubtedly belonged to the person he cared for most.

"I'll call Annie now. Give me a few minutes," she said. Annie had just left the hotel; a call would bring her back quickly. Skylar began searching her bag for her phone.
