Chapter 573
Skylar didn't waste her breath on Felicia. Had Felicia admitted her mistake and offered compensation initially, they wouldn't have needed the police.
Felicia was taken aback. "For such a minor accident, do we really need to involve the police? Just report it to your insurance company and cover my repair costs. It's not complicated."
Felicia had heard Annie struggled with Skylar. Now, she realized it wasn't Annie's incompetence, but Skylar's sharp mind. Skylar wasn't easily manipulated. Felicia had intentionally hit her car.
After a photo with Joe at the bar, her family encouraged her career. Learning of a potential obstacle, Felicia decided to confront it head-on.
"You're skilled at shifting blame," Skylar remarked coldly.
Skylar wondered if the entertainment industry lacked entry barriers; anyone seemed to gain easy access.
Felicia frowned. "What do you mean?"
A male fan shouted, "Did you slam on the brakes to cause the accident? Did you see a luxury car and take advantage?" Others joined in questioning Skylar. Had the Maserati belonged to someone else, the reaction wouldn't have been the same.
Skylar wondered about the blind loyalty of modern fans. She chose not to engage. Fortunately, a passing lane existed.
While Skylar faced the crowd's criticism, she called the police. Felicia noticed Skylar's calm demeanor and lack of retreat, feeling a chill. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Nothing to say. We'll wait for the police," Skylar replied coldly, glancing at Felicia.
Felicia received a call, informing her contact about the accident. Her agent, Adele Wilkinson, had apparently offered advice.
After hanging up, Felicia took selfies and pictures of the damaged cars, immediately posting them on Facebook. Celebrities chased clout; this incident could boost Felicia's fame.
Skylar observed, checking Felicia's Facebook post. Within minutes, the incident trended. It seemed likely Felicia paid for this viral spread. Skylar felt she was a scapegoat for Felicia's ambition.
"Never mind the compensation. I have an event and no time to wait. We're blocking traffic," Felicia said, adopting a generous attitude after her Facebook update. She attempted to shift blame with a few words.
"Finished taking photos? Your Facebook post was timely. Ms. Ingram, you're used to being flattered and believe everything should go your way. I saw your recent post; my car is in the photos. Your fans will likely harass me online. You have two choices: clarify the facts and apologize on Facebook, or wait for my legal letter," Skylar said calmly.
Skylar's composure drew skepticism from onlookers, who questioned Felicia's actions.
"I feel like Felicia caused the rear-end collision."
"There's still distance from the red light; it's unlikely she braked suddenly."
Irritated, Felicia pursed her lips. "Your actions caused the collision. I stated facts on Facebook; I don't owe you an apology. I'm leaving."
As Felicia left, she was stopped. Skylar had already saved Felicia's Facebook photos, eliminating the need for further evidence; she didn't stop Felicia. Seeing Paul stop Felicia, Skylar turned her attention to Joe, approaching from his car.
