Chapter 650
Right before Skylar could strike the person beside her, they spoke, "It's me."
Surprised, Skylar exclaimed, "Joe?"
Joe hummed in acknowledgment. "Don't worry. Go back to sleep," he said.
Skylar sighed in relief. "Didn't you say you'd be away on a business trip for two days? Why are you home already?"
Roused from sleep, Skylar's drowsiness vanished. Joe hugged her. "I finished early. I just got off the plane," he explained.
"Alright, rest well," Skylar whispered, saying nothing more. He'd caught a late-night flight home. Joe must have been exhausted.
Skylar sensed, perhaps imagined, that Joe was troubled, but she only guessed; he might simply be tired. She fell asleep shortly after in his warm embrace, and Joe drifted off as well.
Waking to find Joe beside her, she knew the previous night hadn't been a dream. Joe had awakened with her.
He glanced at Skylar as she tiptoed from the bedroom. "Let's have breakfast together. I know a good restaurant," he said.
Chapter 680
Skylar stopped and looked back at Joe. "Aren't you going to rest more?" she asked.
"No need," he replied, getting out of bed. He wore matching pajamas with Skylar and sported atrocious bedhead. Unkempt yet gorgeous, he made Skylar repeatedly glance his way.
"It's only been two days, and you can't even blink while staring at me. Do you miss me?" Joe asked, his eyes twinkling mischievously. He'd slept in a hotel during his trip, but accustomed to Skylar's embrace, he'd found sleep difficult. He didn't know if Skylar missed him, but he'd lain awake thinking of her.
"Your self-confidence is astounding," Skylar complained, rarely seeing him like this. She watched him a moment longer, his playful banter evident.
They chatted while getting ready. Soon, they were in the car. Lucas had been waiting outside Galaxy Villa for some time; their house wasn't far from the breakfast place.
After breakfast, Joe accompanied her to work. They agreed to meet at Pearlhall Residence that evening. Half an hour later, Joe arrived at the office.
Chapter 680 (continued)
Joe and Paul entered the elevator. As the doors were closing, they reopened, and a familiar figure slipped in.
Paul exclaimed in surprise, "Why are you here, Ms. Scott?" Had they not been at the office, his astonishment would have been less pronounced. His jaw dropped at the sight of Jenny.
Joe raised an eyebrow. Jenny, feigning astonishment, beamed. "I didn't expect to run into you both on my first day," she said. Had Joe planned this?
