Chapter 785
Jenny entered the elevator and pressed the button for the 23rd floor. Skylar, observing from nearby, noticed Jenny's downtrodden appearance. "Jenny?" she murmured, surprised but unconcerned, assuming a chance meeting. However, five minutes later, Edwin arrived, piquing Skylar's curiosity. The coincidence seemed too striking.
While pondering the connection between Jenny and Edwin, Alexander called, summoning Skylar upstairs. She discreetly noted Edwin's destination floor before joining him. Would it be the 23rd?
Upon seeing Edwin, Jenny wept, "Mr. Martin, I'm just a young woman. I drank too much that night; I was completely intoxicated. Please forgive me."
Edwin smirked, "Did you say you're just a young woman?"
"Mr. Martin, I made a terrible mistake. It wasn't intentional. I like Joe, and if he finds out, all hope is lost. Please forgive me. Can't you pretend nothing happened?" she pleaded.
Jenny instantly regretted her impulsiveness. She should have approached Joe more cautiously. Edwin, however, showed no patience; he was there for his own amusement. He hadn't fully enjoyed their previous encounter, deeming a hotel more suitable for his desires.
"I'm not that patient. Go take a shower," Edwin commanded.
Tears streamed down Jenny's face. "I... Mr. Martin, I don't want to," she stammered. Fate, she felt, had been cruel: the loss of her mother, Joe's growing dislike, and now Edwin's bullying.
"You don't have a choice. You accepted the money, didn't you? I'll transfer more today. You must come whenever I call," Edwin declared arrogantly, tossing her a bag of clothes. "Come out after you've changed."
Jenny's face flushed crimson. "Mr. Martin, we shouldn't do this. Our first time was uncontrolled; this time we're both sober. If I marry Joe, how will I face him? How will I face you?" The implications horrified her.
"If you can make him marry you, you'll please us both. What's so bad about that?" Edwin's eyes gleamed.
The color drained from Jenny's face. She realized Edwin would show no mercy, and disobedience would cost her everything—her life in Jipsburg and her future with Joe. Defeated, Jenny retreated to the bathroom, feeling utterly humiliated.
Skylar also arrived on the 23rd floor, but the hotel's size made confirming Edwin and Jenny's shared location impossible without assistance. Dismissing this for now, she had more pressing matters to attend to.
Alexander opened the door after the doorbell rang. "Come in, Skye."
