Chapter 797
Cameron unlocked the door to the fourth floor. Stepping inside, they felt as though they'd entered a museum. All the antiques were perfectly preserved and displayed like a gallery; not a thing was out of place.
Caleb's eyes widened. He understood why Alexander had arranged his exposure to Skylar. Some of these antiques would never see the light of day; they couldn't be found even in the most prestigious museums or auctions. Cameron, indeed, was a powerful but discreet man.
When he saw Skylar sternly straightening something, he stopped his playful behavior and followed her seriously, carefully examining each antique. Cameron remained silent but followed, glancing at Skylar from time to time, nodding with satisfaction. Despite her youth, she was calm and composedโa worthy rival to Viola in her prime, arguably superior in some respects.
She spent two hours meticulously examining the collection. Skylar wasn't merely searching for problematic items; she was admiring the antiques, their history coming alive in her mind's eye. While others might find such prolonged observation tedious, it was as if she were watching a movie.
As time passed, Cameron and Caleb, awestruck by Skylar's intense focus, sat down to rest. Two hours had flown by, yet she remained completely absorbed.
"I wasn't half as patient as she is at her age," Cameron sighed.
Caleb chuckled. "I'm doing my best to learn from her."
Skylar hadn't noticed the men had left her side. When the third hour arrived, she finished her examination. Turning, she saw Cameron and Caleb seated nearby. Striding over, she announced, "Mr. Yates Senior, none of your antiques have any issues. You've got nothing to worry about."
Every antique in his collection was genuine. This fact alone was remarkable.
"Excellent!" Cameron felt a weight lift from his shoulders. He no longer needed to live in fear. What a relief.
Joe arrived at his hotel after leaving a Martin Group branch office. He tiredly massaged his temples. Paul offered him a cup of coffee. "Mr. Martin," he said.
Joe took the coffee but set it aside after a few sips, apparently dissatisfied. Suddenly, he asked, "Do you know why Skylar came to Zallory?"
Fortunately, Paul was prepared. "I inquired," he replied. "Mrs. Martin and Caleb went to the Yates Residence after arriving. Mr. Yates Senior must have needed something from them."
Joe hummed thoughtfully. Paul, unsure of Joe's intentions, asked, "Should we visit Yates Residence?"
Joe gave Paul a meaningful look that stilled his breath. "Make the necessary arrangements."
"Alright! I'll start now."
Skylar and Caleb left the Yates Residence in the afternoon and headed to the Zallory Museum, where they had a scheduled appointment with the curator. After completing her task for Alexander, Skylar spent some time browsing the museum. Caleb, bored at the Yates Residence, had met a friend in Zallory and gone out with him. Skylar spent the afternoon exploring the vast museum, leaving as it was about to close, where she encountered a familiar face.
