Chapter 830

If Jenny had observed him closely, she would have noticed Joe was different that day. His face was a blank slate, sending a chill down her spine. Finally, while dabbing at her tears, she realized something was wrong. She froze. "Joeโ€ฆ"

She glanced at Paul, standing behind him. Paul's words from earlier echoed in her head, compounding her confusion and fear at Joe's icy demeanor. What she'd believed was within her grasp now felt impossibly distant.

"Have you been keeping something from me?" Joe asked, his monotone voice making her tremble. Jenny paled, her heart sinking.

Could it be? No, it was impossible. There was no way he could have found out. Her meetings with Edwin had been discreet. No one should know. Had Skylar told him? Why did she have to be so cruel? Why was Skylar so intent on hurting her?

"I haven't been keeping anything from you. Has someone said something?" Jenny asked, her throat tightening.

Paul chuckled inwardly, knowing she planned to continue lying. If he hadn't seen the pictures and videos himself, he might have believed her helplessness. But he had.

Joe looked away. "Deal with her," he said to Paul, then walked out.

Jenny froze, bewildered. "Joeโ€ฆ" she muttered. Why had he left? He hadn't even said much. She was utterly confused, terror seizing her gradually. She began to guess what had happened.

She struggled to get out of bed, her injured leg hindering her.

"Stop playing games," Paul said. "Mr. Martin isn't coming back. He just gave you a last chance, and you threw it away."

Horrified, she stared at him. "What last chance?"

She clutched her blankets, her nails digging into the fabric. She was so nervous she could hear her own breathing. Had they all found out? No, it was impossible. Even if Skylar framed her, Joe wouldn't believe it so easily.

"I sent you some things," Paul said emotionlessly. "Look at them later. You're fired. Never contact Mr. Martin again. I have evidence confirming your mother never saved him. From now on, you are not to mention his name to gain any advantage."

The truth about the accident had come to light some time ago. Considering Jenny's relationship with Joe, she wouldn't see him again.

Paul left. Jenny's mouth hung open, her ears ringing. It took a long time for her to regain her senses. Finding her phone, she was suddenly terrified of checking WhatsApp.

This had to be a nightmare. It had to be. Her mother had saved Joe. How could she have tried to harm him? And Paul must have sent her fabricated evidence. She would make Joe trust her again. She would.
