Chapter 880
โThanks, but I ate before coming,โ Skylar politely declined Aikenโs offer. She had felt a little hungry after work and eaten while buying food for the girls.
Aiken nodded, said โAlright,โ and left the room. Simona and Wendy had little appetite and ate sparingly. Skylar chatted with them for a while before the police arrived. She waited outside while they took statements.
Aiken joined her after finishing dinner. โThank you for everything these past few days. If not for you, Simona wouldnโt have calmed down so quickly,โ he said softly, looking paler and more worn than usual. A persistent crease furrowed his brow.
Skylar understood his distress. Anyone would be enraged to see their cherished sister bullied. Aiken looked down, concealing his emotions. โSimonaโs reserved,โ he explained. โIโve hired a psychologist for her.โ
โWith a psychologistโs help, sheโll be fine,โ Skylar replied, having considered suggesting the same. Simona was young and needed professional guidance. While they could offer support, they couldnโt erase her trauma.
โThe psychologist will also see Wendy,โ Aiken added.
Skylar was surprised. While she didnโt know him well, Aiken didnโt strike her as one to interfere. However, sheโd overheard a nurse mention his paying for Wendyโs treatment and hiring a lawyer.
The police left after taking statements. Entering the room, Skylar and Aiken found the girls subdued, their eyes brimming with tears, likely due to recounting the previous nightโs events.
Simona looked up and asked Aiken, โTheyโll pay for what they did, right?โ
โDefinitely,โ Aiken promised firmly. Every person who harmed his sister would answer for it.
Wendy, tearfully, thanked Aiken for the lawyer, promising repayment when she was successful. Aiken simply nodded. Skylar remained silent, watching them.
When Simona and Wendy fell asleep, Skylar prepared to leave. Aiken offered to drive her home.
โI drove myself; I can manage. Simona needs you here,โ Skylar replied gently.
โIโll walk you to the parking lot,โ he offered.
Leaving the eighth floor, they encountered Rowan and Jenny.
โActually, Iโm fine. I could have waited until tomorrow. Most doctors are gone. Itโs just mild diarrhea and weakness. Rowan, youโre pampering me,โ Jenny said coquettishly, her arm linked through his, her gaze completely fixed on him.
Rowan loved that lookโher complete focus on him. โYou need to come to the hospital if youโre unwell. Besides, I enjoy pampering you.โ
