Chapter 89

Natalie felt ashamed of her excessive drinking. She was insecure and worried, and she didn't understand why. Jeremy, her childhood sweetheart and husband, had promised to cherish her. Their relationship was envied by many. Natalie regretted not trusting him.

Skylar chuckled. "So, you're here because he didn't answer your call?"

Embarrassed, Natalie replied, "I've sobered up. Let's wait by the bar's entrance." She regretted her actions.

Disliking the bar's noise and crowds, Skylar grabbed Natalie and left.

At a corner, Kenny and Samuel were drinking. They saw Skylar leaving with an unfamiliar woman.

Samuel exclaimed, "Skylar? Why is she here? I called, but she didn't answer. I'll ask her." He ran towards Skylar, followed by Kenny.

Recent events at home had left them unable to contact Skylar. Their mother's illness was partly due to the stress. Kenny's face darkened at the thought. He wished Skylar weren't his sister.

As the brothers rushed out, Jeremy arrived and picked up Natalie.

Skylar was walking to her car when someone stopped her. Thinking it was a drunk patron, she was shocked to see Kenny and Samuel.

"Skylar, you're out of control," Samuel said. "First, you moved out, and now you're a sugar baby? Why can't you do something right? Come home." He grabbed her hand.

He feared the media discovering their relationship and Skylar's situation, which could damage his career.

Kenny's face was grim. "Go home, apologize to Mom and Dad, and call Mr. Ziegler. We can't let you be with him blindly."

Skylar scoffed at the accusations and Paul's name. She twisted free of Samuel's grasp, then grabbed his hand.

Samuel shouted, "What are you doing?"

Chapter 87

He didn't realize which part of his hand she'd grabbed, but he was instantly in pain.

"I should be asking that," Skylar said expressionlessly. "What are you trying to do?"

She had previously gone to great lengths to help her brothers. She made a medicinal herb pillow for Kenny's neck problems and taught him relieving techniques, but he'd neglected it. She'd also made Samuel a special tea, which he'd disliked and given away. They had taken her kindness for granted.

Nearby, Joe sat in a car, smelling of alcohol and suffering a headache. While massaging his head, Paul exclaimed, "Ms. Sullivan!"

Joe saw Skylar on the sidewalk. The two men glared at her with disgust, treating her like a monster.
