Chapter 902
Vera watched Skylar get into the car. To her surprise, Joe took the shopping bags from Skylar. His attentiveness was evident even from a distance. His actions clearly indicated he cared for her. They chatted, and Joe even smiledโa rare sight. His usual demeanor was cold and reserved, a consequence of his upbringing and position. He only revealed a softer side to close friends like Rowan.
At that moment, Vera felt a pang of jealousy. Her face paled. Patricia's warning echoed in her mind: Skylar could jeopardize her chances with Joe. She was the game-changer. Yet, Joe's delayed wedding, his reluctance to publicize their union, suggested he wasn't entirely content with Skylar; the marriage seemed a mere concession. A marriage of convenience couldn't possibly fulfill him, Vera believed. She was the one truly suited to him.
After regaining her composure, Vera received a call from Molly.
"Ms. Ruell, have you decided?" Molly asked.
Vera hesitated, then recalled the scene she'd witnessed. "How confident are you? I need absolute certainty."
"Completely confident. Skylar is using underhanded tactics. If you don't act, you'll lose to her," Molly replied.
Vera hadn't previously believed Molly, but the scene she'd witnessed gave her pause. Perhaps Skylar was using ruthless methods.
"I'll trust you this once."
She decided to explore all options, especially since Christopher was already preparing. Fortunately, Joe had made a reservation at the Wiscadian restaurant, a popular establishment that would otherwise have been fully booked.
Once seated, Joe ordered dishes tailored to their preferences.
"Take a look at these wedding plans," he said, handing Skylar a tablet.
Skylar, curious about the tablet since seeing it in the car, now understood its purpose. He wanted to discuss wedding plans during dinner. The tablet displayed an email with three attached filesโwedding proposals from a planner.
Chapter 902
The photos and videos depicted fairytale weddings. Skylar hadn't expected Joe to have already engaged a wedding planner.
"When did you arrange this?" she asked.
"A month ago. Are you dissatisfied with any of the options?" Joe inquired.
