Chapter 928

Paul's question revealed his knowledge; if Paul knew, Joe certainly did too. Jenny's panic mirrored the excitement she'd felt earlier.

"Iโ€ฆ Iโ€ฆ"

Joe glared. Her eyes welled with pain. "Iโ€”sorry, Joe. Mr. Martin said this pen would mend your relationship. That's why I put it in your office. He wanted to regain your favor, and he was very persuasive. I honestly thought it was just a pen. I didn't expect you to dislike it so much."

"If anyone else had delivered it, I might have accepted that. But you knew about the conflict between Mr. Martin and his father. Your seeking out Mr. Edwin reveals sinister intentions," Paul countered sharply.

Jenny, pale with fear, pleaded, "That's not true! I wasn't thinking of that, I wasn't! Joe, please believe me!"

"See her out," Joe ordered coldly.

Jenny understood. All hope vanished. She could no longer rely on Joe in Jipsbrug; he would never see her again. Joe's discovery of her relationship with Edwin, coupled with the fountain pen incident, had irrevocably turned her into his enemy. The fantasies she'd cherished on the way here dissipated.

"Joe, I know I made a mistake. I've learned. I'll never do it again. Joe, please forgive me," Jenny begged, tears streaming down her face.

But Joe remained unmoved.

Paul said stoically, "This way, Ms. Scott."

Jenny left helplessly. As she entered the elevator, Paul added, "Be grateful he wasn't more affected by the pen; otherwise, you'd pay with your life!"

"Iโ€”I'm a victim too! It's unfair," Jenny protested. Why didn't anyone believe her? What if they forgave her this time?

Paul ignored her. Jenny left reluctantly.

As she knelt by the door, sobbing, Rowan called.

"Where are you?"

Jenny lied reflexively, "Shopping. Found a job? Should I invest in a new company for you? I have enough to fund a small studio." She clung to Rowan desperately. All his avenues were blocked; he couldn't work for his family or afford to start his own company, so he was job hunting.

After a pause, he said, "No need. Keep your money. I'm planning to co-found a company with a friend."

Jenny replied, "Alright. Don't overwork yourself. I'll worry. I'll continue shopping."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Jenny sobbed. She looked at the Martin Group building, unwilling to let go. She would never return to the past.

After she left, Rowan appeared. He'd seen her crying in front of the Martin Group building, noticing her reluctance to leave. He realized most of her words were lies. Jenny had lied to him. A question formed in his mind: which of Jenny's words were true, and which were false?

On Saturday, Skylar shopped according to her list, preparing for her trip to Farington in a few days. Joe had a business meeting; their shopping trip was cancelled. She bought necessities and some clothes.
