Chapter 930

It was as though Minerva hadn't heard their criticisms. Icy and unapproachable, she dismissed their concerns as fussing over nothing. This was deeply hurtful, even worse than the slap she’d delivered to Jenny.

Jenny, flushed with anger, complained, “Don’t you think this is excessive? You know Rowan likes me, and your engagement drove him from his family. Yet, you refuse to break it off. Aren’t you afraid of Rowan’s resentment at your clinging to him?”

The Reids' engagement remained intact. Jenny couldn't understand Minerva's persistence. Her friend added, "Jenny's right. If you're determined to keep the engagement, the Reids won't end it. Rowan, and Jenny, are the true victims here. She's innocent. True love is invaluable, and you clearly have no feelings for Rowan, nor he for you. You're interfering in their relationship."

"Are you finished? Then leave. Calling off the engagement isn't my decision; it rests with my elders. If you'd created a scene with the Jakemans and forced them to end it, I might respect your tactics. But you assaulted me. Did you think I'd be so easily intimidated?"

Minerva's dismissive attitude about the engagement angered Jenny. However, she had to concede Minerva's point: Rowan had no control over the situation; it depended on his parents' decision.

Chapter 930 (Continued)

Jenny had harassed Minerva, hoping to prompt her to end the engagement, allowing Rowan to return home. But Minerva remained unmoved. Her words clearly indicated she considered Rowan unimportant, even expendable.

Jealous of Minerva's privileged background, Jenny simmered.

"You can't say that either…" Jenny's friend whispered, fearful. Jenny, too, realized they shouldn't prolong the confrontation. "You know whether you like Rowan or not. I won't tolerate this slap. Minerva, you'll regret this!"

Grabbing her friend's arm, she retreated, dejectedly.

Once they were distant, Minerva called Rowan. "Control Jenny. If she harasses me again, I'll ensure she has no place left in Jipsburg. I don't care who she is with."

Rowan roared, "Did Jenny seek you out? What did you do to her? Minerva, I won't let you get away with hurting her!"

Minerva paled slightly, replying coldly, "You won't let me get away with it? Rowan, don't be shameless. If you can't convince your grandfather to call off the engagement, then control Jenny.

"I'll show the Jakemans a semblance of respect regarding today's events. But if she dares to feign innocence with me again, I'll ensure everyone in Jipsburg learns what she did."

Minerva ended the call, then sent a recording of their conversation to Rowan, adding a pointed message before blocking him. Upon hearing the recording, Rowan was stunned. He knew Jenny had brought a friend and that they had confronted Minerva—an act completely out of character for her. He also realized Minerva’s words held far greater weight and consequences than he had initially anticipated.
