Chapter 943

Skylar sensed a change in Rowan.

"What are you thinking about?" Joe asked.

"Rowan seems more mature," Skylar replied.

Joe pondered a moment. "The Jakemans discovered some of Jenny's secrets," he said. "They're waiting for the right time to tell Rowan. This time, they want him to change completely."

Skylar was surprised. She hadn't expected the Jakemans to have uncovered Jenny's secrets. On reflection, it made sense; if Rowan intended to marry Jenny, a thorough investigation was inevitable.

Leaving the hospital, Rowan saw Jenny a short distance away. He raised an eyebrow, approached her, and asked, "Why are you here?"

"I saw you leave this morning after taking a call and was worried," Jenny said, concerned. "I followed you. Are you unwell?"

"I'm fine," Rowan replied, sighing in relief. He'd assumed she was worried about Joe. "Joe's been hospitalized. Would you like to visit him?"

Jenny's eyes widened. She lacked the courage to see him. Her gaze darted around as she replied, "I think it's best if I don't."

"Are you afraid I'll be angry?" Rowan asked.

Jenny shook her head. "No," she said. "Joe has Skylar. Besides, I don't think many people know he's hospitalized. It's best if I stay away."

Rowan studied Jenny. Something felt amiss, though he couldn't place it. He'd ask her later.

"I'm going to work," he said. "Where are you headed?"

Jenny checked the time. "I'm meeting a friend," she replied. "We're starting a studio together. We're still finalizing the details of our partnership."

"Alright," Rowan said. "Goodbye. See you tonight." He kissed her forehead and left.

Jenny watched him go, biting her lip. If Rowan hadn't been ostracized by the Jakemans, he wouldn't be so busy. He would still be the Jakeman family's son, lauded everywhere he went. She wouldn't be the subject of scorn. Minerva was to blame. Jenny glanced back at the hospital.

If she could go back a few months, she wouldn't have visited Edwin out of greed. She wouldn't have lost her autonomy, and she wouldn't fear visiting Joe.

As she was about to leave, she saw Minerva in front of the hospital, apparently just departing. What was Minerva doing there?

After a moment's hesitation, Jenny followed her.
