Chapter 951

As Skylar glanced at Minerva, an idea struck her: Minerva's recent mood swings might be connected to her pregnancy, perhaps exacerbated by the paperweight's negative energy.

"Negative item?" Minerva echoed, familiar with the term from recent conversations. While some were cautious about such things, others remained skeptical. Minerva, knowing the Doherty family and aware of their experiences and recent events involving the Ruell family, believed and had arranged to meet Skylar after their hospital encounter.

Skylar explained the paperweight's situation; Minerva's expression shifted as she listened. After a few minutes, Minerva said, "So this might explain my emotional changes. Honestly, I've been feeling quite unstable lately." Since Rowan's broken engagement and the previous day's discovery of her pregnancy, she'd battled intense emotions. Rowan had been her fiancรฉ, their relationship significant; his abrupt departure deeply affected her. Jenny's presence unnerved her, prompting investigation. Minerva realized her emotional instability might have heightened her sensitivity.

Skylar said, "If the paperweight is affecting you now, it could continue to do so."

Minerva frowned. "If I don't want it to cause any more harm, should I leave it to you?"

Skylar nodded, smiling. "Yes, I'll ensure its complete destruction."

"Then I'll leave it to you," Minerva said without hesitation, having no desire to keep such a harmful object.

Skylar carefully took the paperweight.

"I keep forgetting to talk about payment," Minerva said. "How much is it? I'll transfer it now."

Skylar, having recently helped the Ruell family with a similar issue for twenty million dollarsโ€”a sum some might deem opportunistic, but which she justified considering the value of a lifeโ€”had a good impression of Minerva. Minerva's resilience to the paperweight's influence demonstrated inner strength.

Smiling, Skylar said, "It's a coincidence I met you, Ms. Reid. For friendship's sake, let's make it one thousand dollars."

Minerva was surprised but smiled back. "I feel lucky to have met you too. Let's skip the formalitiesโ€”call me Minerva."

"Sounds good."

Minerva, however, sent 666,666 dollars, wanting to show sincerity in establishing a genuine friendship, feeling the amount modest compared to the Ruell family's twenty-million-dollar bill.

Skylar saw the large transfer and smiled. "Thank you."

"No, I should be thanking you," Minerva replied, smiling.

Skylar checked the time. "It's getting late. I should go. Please take care and rest."

Just as Minerva was about to nod, she began dry-heaving uncontrollably, rushing to the restroom. A few minutes later, pale, she apologized. "Sorry, I'm pregnant and not feeling well."
