Chapter 977
Skylar listened to Mike's praise, her eyes fixed on the photographs of herself and Joe. They gazed at each other from a distance, as if the world faded away. Their gazes were filled with tenderness and affection. Skylar's heart fluttered. Joe was equally captivated. He reached for her hand, intertwining their fingers with lingering warmth.
"You look stunning," he whispered in her ear. The thought that Skylar was his wife filled him with pride.
Skylar glanced at him. "You look handsome too," she said.
Mike, nearby, observed the couple's whispered exchange and affectionate glances. He thought, "I'm getting more than enough of their lovey-dovey display today." If every couple possessed this chemistry and looked this good, his job would be effortless.
The first set of photos was completed smoothly. Joe turned to Mike and asked for a few shots.
"These are still raw," Mike replied, "no filters or adjustments. Do you mind, Mr. Martin?"
Joe shrugged. "It's fine. Just send me the first one and the last two."
"Sure."
As they prepared for the second set, Skylar emerged in a new outfit. She noticed Joe fiddling with his phone and, thinking him busy, hesitated to disturb him. However, as he put his phone away, she glimpsed his screen. To her surprise, he had set one of their wedding photos as his wallpaper.
"You set our wedding photo as your wallpaper?" she asked.
Joe nodded. "Is that a problem?"
Skylar initially wanted to ask if he wasn't concerned about others seeing it, but she reconsidered. His choice demonstrated how much he valued their marriage. Instead, she smiled. "Send that photo to me too."
Joe raised an eyebrow. "You want to set it as your wallpaper too?"
His eyes softened as he looked at Skylar, a smile playing on his lips. A hint of affection, perhaps unnoticed by him, shone in his gaze.
"Want to see me all the time, even when I'm not around?"
Skylar blushed at his question but quickly deflected his apparent self-adoration. "I'm sending it to Grandma, so she can see."
Joe chuckled. "You're too shy to admit you'll miss me, but that's alrightโI'll send it to you." When he forwarded the photo, he added, "I already sent it to Grandma. You don't have to. You might as well set it as your wallpaper now."
Skylar was speechless at his apparent narcissism, but she had to admit the photos were stunning. They were almost unreal, like something from a celebrity photoshoot. Without hesitation, she set the photo as her wallpaper.
At Pearlhall Residence, Gloria beamed as she admired the wedding photo Joe had sent. She couldn't stop smiling and proudly showed it to Edgar.
"Look at this! Not only did they go on their honeymoon, but they also took wedding photos. Aren't these just beautiful? I've never seen wedding photos this gorgeous."
Edgar was equally impressed. "Only they could make wedding photos look this good. They look even better than movie stars."
Gloria nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! Once they return, I'll have them take another set in a traditional style. It'll be even more breathtaking."
"That's a brilliant idea, Mrs. Martin Senior!" Edgar agreed.
By the time they reached the third outfit, Skylar was tired. Her feet ached from the high heels, and Joe noticed. He immediately called for a break and took her aside to rest. Just then, Joe's phone rang. His face darkened as he listened. "I'll be there right away," he said.
