Chapter 982

Jeremy's face was ashen. His gaze, cold and intense, fixed on Natalie. The way she had called him "Mr. Powell" felt like a sharp knife through the air. He had just seen Austin escort her to her room; the two lingered at the door, a reluctant goodbye passing between them. He wouldn't believe anyone who claimed nothing was happening between them. The thought of Natalie falling for someone else caused a sharp, tearing pain in his chest.

"Do you need something from me?" Natalie asked, taken aback. She wondered why he was there; they had already clarified their situation yesterday. With Helena's scenes finished this morning, they shouldn't need to stay at this uncomfortable hotel any longer.

Jeremy looked down at her with an air of superiority. He had seen their closeness earlierโ€”much closer than the distance between them now, and they had been talking. Now, not only was there a physical distance, but her attitude was as indifferent as if he were a stranger. Seeing his hurt, Natalie felt bewildered.

"Youโ€ฆ"

"Natalie, you're really cold-hearted," Jeremy said, his eyes red with anger.

"Jeremy, what's going on? You show up out of the blue to accuse me. What do you want to say? Just say it," Natalie retorted, equally upset by their current state. She longed to return to a year ago, to their newlywed days, when their affection was evident. But some things, once done, couldn't be undone.

"When will you be returning to Jipsburg?" Jeremy asked, taking a deep breath to control his turbulent emotions.

Relief washed over Natalie. "About a month," she replied softly. "I'm not sure of the exact date yet; it depends on the crew schedule."

Jeremy's gaze remained fixed on her, intense and brooding. Under his scrutiny, Natalie felt uncomfortable. "I'm feeling unwell and tired. I'm going to rest now."

"Alright," Jeremy said curtly.

Once the door closed, he leaned against it, his entire demeanor shrouded in gloom.

Chapter 982

Skylar had been standing on the balcony for some time. The violin performance had ended. She wrapped her coat around herself and left. It was 10:45 pm, and Joe hadn't returned. With Vera hospitalized and the wedding photoshoot cancelled, he was likely staying at the hospital to ensure her well-being. Skylar felt uncomfortable thinking about Joe's concern for Vera. Her phone rang as she was about to turn off the lights.
