Chapter 994
Could the unclear patterns on the ring be related to the problem?
โMom, ask the customer to send a few more pictures. The ones they sent are unclear.โ
Janine immediately sent over several more. โThe customer already sent several photos; Iโll forward them all.โ
Skylar carefully examined them. Gradually, the faint patterns on the ring became clearer. However, she found no historical connection.
Could this ring, crafted long ago, never have reached the market? Was it only recently discovered? Perhaps it wasn't as unusual as she initially thought.
Still uncertain, she reviewed the pictures again, but her unease only intensified. Something felt definitively wrong.
โMom, have the customer request a refund. We can't authenticate this.โ
Janine didn't ask why, knowing Skylar had a good reason. โOkay.โ
Although the customer was refunded, Skylar kept the pictures. Perhaps she wasn't focused due to lack of sleep. She decided to revisit the photos in a few days with a clearer mind.
Glancing at the clock, it was past 8:00 pm. Tired from insufficient sleep, she turned off the lights and went to bed.
In her semi-conscious state, Skylar's phone, beside her pillow, vibrated, waking her. She answered without checking the caller ID.
โMrs. Martin, Mr. Martin is sick! He has a fever. The flu in Fachington is severe, and many people are ill. I canโt care for him alone. Can you come back? I tried giving him medicine, but he refuses!โ
Paul sounded desperate.
Skylar, still drowsy, snapped awake. It was just after 9:00 pmโshe'd only slept for less than an hour, explaining her exhaustion.
โIs something wrong? Iโm not feverish, and I have medicine. I have colleagues on the same floor, so donโt worry,โ Natalie said, roused by the phone's vibration.
Natalie switched on the bedside lamp, her eyes half-closed. Yawning, she added, โJust be careful.โ
Skylar simply replied, โOkay,โ addressing both Natalie and Paul.
โIโll send someone to pick you up!โ Paul was relieved, feeling heโd found a savior.
An hour later, around 10:00 pm, Skylar returned to her hotel, where Paul waited outside.
Seeing her, he hurried over. โMr. Martinโs recent injury weakened him; otherwise, he wouldnโt have caught the flu so easily. Dr. Grey wasnโt here this time. Plus, Mr. Martin hates hospitals and refuses medicine.
โIโm desperate. So, I called you.โ
Whenever Paul encountered insurmountable problems, he called Skylar, confident she could navigate Joeโs eccentricities.
โWhy didnโt you call Ms. Ruell? He might listen to her,โ Skylar asked.
