Chapter 998
When Skylar opened her eyes, she was greeted by Joe's handsome face. They were so close she could feel his breath. She realized their sleeping positions had changed. Initially, Joe had been holding her; now, she was clinging to him, wrapped around him like a koala, her leg draped over his. No wonder he was staring.
"Do you like holding me that much?" he asked.
Skylar quickly pulled back her leg. "Isn't it you who likes holding me more?"
Joe was momentarily stunned, then admitted, "You're really comfortable to hold. Holding you makes me want to sleep."
"Looks like you're all better now," Skylar muttered, though she thought his shamelessness had reached a new level.
Joe's intense gaze made her uneasy. "What are you looking at?"
Suddenly, he flipped over, pinning her beneath him, and kissed her passionately. The kiss made Skylar dizzy, and things quickly escalated.
After a long while, exhausted and sweating, Skylar lightly kicked him. "You must have gone crazy!" she scolded. He'd just recovered from a fever, yet here he was, and she had to admit, his stamina was impressive.
"You enjoyed it too," Joe said casually, his post-activity mood pleasant.
Skylar glared and tried to get up for a shower, but Joe held her tight. "Let go of me. I need a shower," she demanded.
"Shower later. I don't mind," he said, unsure of his feelings, but unwilling to let her go. Perhaps it was the perfect alignment of their bodies and souls during their intimacy; he seemed addicted to that feeling.
Skylar sighed. "Perhaps you don't mind, but I do. You're covered in sweat."
Joe's expression darkened. He thought of Aiken, gave her a firm kiss, and said, "Since you still have energy, let's go for another round." How could she reject him immediately after?
Skylar tried to push him away but couldn't. This Joe was different, almost a wild beast, relentless and fierce.
Chapter 998 (continued)
By the time they finished, Skylar felt like her entire body had been dismantled. She lacked the strength to move, let alone shower. Finally, after two hours, she managed to shower and dress. It was noon; she'd missed breakfast.
Looking at Joe, working and talking on the phone, she muttered, "A wolf in sheep's clothing." If she'd known his recovery would involve tormenting her, she wouldn't have given him medicine last night.
He seemed to hear her; he glanced at her with an aggressive look, reminiscent of their earlier passion โ a look that seemed to pierce her heart. Skylar's heart sank. Joe's behavior last night and this morning wasโฆdifferent.
