Chapter 11

Estella knew the mirage certificate was fake. Jenson’s breath hitched. How had she found out? Then, like a lightning bolt, he recalled the day she’d asked about City Hall. Had she known all along?

More details surfaced in his mind—Estella saying, “The wedding’s canceled,” her growing indifference, the way she’d quietly begin pushing him toward Emily. Jenson fell to his knees, his face twisted in despair. So she’d been planning to leave him a week ago, yet he’d been completely oblivious. He’d been blind to his last chance to make things right.

But he’d only wanted to help Emily. That was all. He’d never once thought of leaving Estella. So how could she be so ruthless, so resolute in walking away? At the very least, she should have given him a chance to explain.

Jenson had no other choice but to dial her number over and over again. Even as blood smeared the screen, he refused to give up and gripped the phone numbly.

At Anebert Airport, the moment Estella got off the plane, she saw hundreds of missed calls. Only then did she realize she’d forgotten to block Jenson. But she was confused. Shouldn’t Jenson be with the woman he loved? What was this sudden outburst for?

Before she could dwell on it, her phone rang again. Her fingers trembled as she answered. The next second, Jenson’s hoarse voice came through the receiver. “Where are you, Estie? I’ll come find you. Let’s talk.”

Estella’s brows knit together. “There’s nothing to talk about, Jenson. The moment you chose Emily, we were done. Don’t call me again. Let’s at least leave each other with…”

At her words, something inside Jenson finally snapped. His eyes burned red as he roared, “Estella Hart! We’ve been together for six years! Do you really have no trust in me at all? Not even enough to let me explain?”

Stunned by the sheer audacity of his accusation, Estella let out a laugh. “Explain?” she said. “You mean you want to explain why you married Emily and then had the audacity to hand me a fake marriage certificate? Jenson, where do you get the nerve to demand…”

Jason’s face grew darker with each word, and by the time Estella finished, it was flushed a deep red. “Este… I only did those things to help her. It’s always been you, I swear. I’ve only ever loved you. Please, give me another chance. We’re about to get married. Don’t walk away now.”
