Chapter 102: Avenge My Mother

Isolde sneered and stared at Priscilla. Priscilla, apprehensive under her fierce gaze, wondered how Isolde knew.

โ€œNonsense?โ€ Isolde shouted. โ€œHattie, bring him in.โ€ As the curtain fell, Hattie dragged a middle-aged man in.

The man, dressed in fine clothes, had a sly look and facial scarsโ€”likely from a beating by Hattie.

โ€œWho is he?โ€ Isolde pulled the man forward, questioning Priscilla and Prudence. โ€œI know him. This man was my motherโ€™s butler. My father beat him and threw him out after he molested my mother. Was he truly molesting her, or was my mother framed for an affair?โ€

Isoldeโ€™s merciless questioning drastically altered Prudenceโ€™s expression. So angry, her lips trembled. โ€œWhat do you mean? You dragged in a man and claimed he had an affair with your mother. You slandered her! Do you care about your father at all?โ€

Isolde kicked the middle-aged man hard. He fell at Prudenceโ€™s feet, crying out in pain and begging for her help.

Isolde said coldly, โ€œGrandmother, drop the act. However, God will punish you for your sins. Just wait and see. A vicious old woman like you will die more tragically than my mother.โ€

Turning to Priscilla, she continued, โ€œAnd you! Donโ€™t think you can take my motherโ€™s money after currying favor with Grandmother. Let me tell you, Iโ€™ll make you repay what you have and what youโ€™ve spent.โ€

Priscilla fumed, โ€œYou restless and ungrateful girl! You dare talk back to your grandmother like this? Weโ€™ll have you kicked out of the house!โ€

โ€œYou dare?โ€ Isolde sneered, her height and aura a powerful threat. With that, she strode out. โ€œHattie, Hazel, letโ€™s go.โ€ Hattie and Hazel followed, ignoring Blesertin.

Priscillaโ€™s face reddened with rage. She looked at the ashen-faced Prudence. โ€œPrudence, are we going to let her do whatever she wants?โ€

Prudence looked up, her eyes cold. โ€œOtherwise?โ€

Priscilla was shocked. Even Prudence couldnโ€™t do anything? Would she have to return the money?

โ€œWhy donโ€™t we tell Geoffrey?โ€ Priscilla suggested.

Prudence sneered. โ€œHe brought that nasty girl back without my permission. Do you think heโ€™ll listen to me now? Use your brain. If he has to step in for household affairs, I wonโ€™t be in charge anymore.โ€

Priscilla kicked the man and thundered, โ€œGet lost! What are you waiting for? Youโ€™re a piece of trash! You canโ€™t do anything right!โ€

The man stood up, pleading, โ€œLady Priscilla, look how seriously injured I am. Even if I failed, shouldnโ€™t you pay me a medicinal fee?โ€

Priscilla threw a piece of gold at his feet. โ€œTake it and get lost!โ€

He hurriedly picked it up and left, grinning.

Priscilla sat down. โ€œPrudence, how do you think that nasty girl found out about our plans? Did someone spill the beans?โ€

Prudence shook her head, her voice deep. โ€œSave it. She has seen through all our plans. She wonโ€™t sit back and wait for death. Do you think sheโ€™s stupid? No, sheโ€™s smartโ€”smarter than Prunella. She doesnโ€™t worry about Prunella and has no feelings for her father. She has nothing to lose. Coupled with the wildness sheโ€™s developed in the manor over the years, I underestimated her.โ€

โ€œIn that case, isnโ€™t she difficult to deal with?โ€ Priscillaโ€™s heart sank.

Prudence narrowed her eyes. โ€œSheโ€™s difficult, so what? We have to deal with her eventually. Back then, Prunella had her maternal family, and she still died, right?โ€

โ€œI heard Great Marshal Sharp is coming back,โ€ Priscilla said.

Prudence snorted. โ€œWhatโ€™s there to be afraid of? His daughter is dead. The Dukeโ€™s estate has nothing to do with the Sharp family, and he canโ€™t interfere. If he shamelessly interferes, I will have a way to humiliate him.โ€

Priscilla felt slightly relieved, but not as calm as before. Remembering Isoldeโ€™s words, she worried, โ€œThat nasty girl mentioned framing Eden for an affair with Prunella. Could it be she knows what happened? If Geoffrey finds out, Iโ€™m afraid it will do us no good!โ€

Prudence rolled her eyes. โ€œWhy are you panicking? Since Isolde took Eden down, she could have asked about what happened back then. However, we failed, so weโ€™ll pretend it never happened. Whatโ€™s the big deal about letting her shout about something that never happened? I donโ€™t think Geoffrey will believe her. Even if he does, I wonโ€™t admit it. Instead, Iโ€™ll turn the tables and blame them. What can they do then?โ€

Priscilla wanted to say more, but Prudence was furious. โ€œAlright, stop worrying! Worry about Nicoleโ€™s marriage instead. After today, it will spread throughout Argentum in less than two days. Everyone will say Iโ€™m a snob. Who would want to be related to the Dukeโ€™s estate? Iโ€™m afraid Nicoleโ€™s marriage will have to be reconsidered.โ€

Priscilla said fiercely, โ€œThat hussy Isolde is so vicious. I hate her guts.โ€

Prudence, surprisingly, calmed down. A surge of hot blood filled her heart; she was reliving her past battles of wits and courage with Prunella.

Prudence said gloomily, โ€œDidnโ€™t she say she wanted to take back everything we spent? Alright, Iโ€™ll snatch even the gold the King rewarded her. I want her penniless and back at the Belleview Manor in Windermount. Iโ€™ll even take back the Belleview Manor and give her just enough to survive. If she survives, she lives; otherwise, sheโ€™ll die like her mother.โ€

Priscilla beamed. โ€œThatโ€™s good! Itโ€™s a pity the title of County Princess canโ€™t be inherited; otherwise, it would be good to pass it to Martha.โ€

Isolde returned to the Pearl Tower, still fuming.

Hattie asked, โ€œWhy did you let Eden go so easily? Itโ€™s best to bring him to the Duke and have him confirm what happened back then.โ€

Isolde said indifferently, โ€œEven if he confessed, my father wouldnโ€™t believe it. Back then, Prudence had those thoughts, but Mother resolved them. Father hated Eden and beat him up before chasing him out. Father wouldnโ€™t believe him.โ€

Besides, it didnโ€™t matter if he knew or not; it was fine as long as she knew. She never expected him to avenge her mother.

Hazel said, โ€œPrudence isnโ€™t that good, right? You saw through all her schemes today and even counterattacked.โ€

Isolde smiled faintly. โ€œShe didnโ€™t plan to deal with me today; she just wanted to chase me back to Windermount. She didnโ€™t go too hard on me. And with Rosemary helping me, Prudence failed. However, after today, she knows Iโ€™m not easy to deal with. Next time she makes a move, it wonโ€™t be so simple.โ€
