The Swordswomanโ€™s Revenge Story After Rebirth

Chapter 210: Prepare for the Wedding

Isolde immediately left the palace for North Camp, arriving simultaneously with the Queen Mother's decree. Kolton had yet to return from Zloimond when Lucas received the decree. Lucas, originally a garrison general in Southville, had been demoted to North Camp. A man in his thirties received the Queen Mother's decree at the camp. Seeing Isolde beside him, he felt it was a joke.

After the messenger left, he stared at Isolde, pacing the camp with his hands behind his back, unsure how to address the marshal. He didn't speak to her.

Isolde approached, sitting down and touching the training diagrams, garrison book, rotation schedule, and training schedule. She felt her previous life returning, bit by bit. An unknown fire ignited in her blood, slowly boiling. She touched the flag, gently sweeping her finger across the red silk; it was as if she saw the enemy's blood flowing before her.

โ€œDonโ€™t touch it!โ€ Lucas stared, wide-eyed. โ€œLittle girl, what do you know about war? Why such an arrangement? I donโ€™t believe it.โ€

Isolde looked at him. โ€œYouโ€™d better believe it, because you set off first tomorrow morning.โ€

North Camp held 10,000 soldiers; originally more, but troops had dispersed. These 10,000 soldiers and 30,000 guards jointly protected Argentum. Therefore, the North Camp Army was also known as the Reserve Army.

โ€œTomorrow morning? How can we raise enough food?โ€ Lucas laughed coldly, feeling manipulated by the Royal Court. The King had already reprimanded him multiple times for one mistake. Now, they sent a young girl to fool him.

โ€œThereโ€™s no need to worry. I, as the marshal, have my own arrangements,โ€ Isolde said.

โ€œMarshal?โ€ Lucas laughed angrily. โ€œA 3,000-strong combat team, and you call yourself a marshal? Do you have any shame?โ€

โ€œEven with only thirty people, Iโ€™m still the marshal,โ€ Isolde said flatly. During the empire, marshals weren't titles or nobility; they were appointed by the King during wartime, leading specific wars or war zones, managing troop movements, tactics, and logistics.

Lucas said angrily, โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll see how you plan to arrange provisions for three thousand people tomorrow. Even getting provisions from the Ministry of Revenue requires three levels of approval, and itโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThatโ€™s not what I said. Itโ€™s what the Queen Mother meant. She said this matter is not a problem for you,โ€ Isolde said meaningfully.

โ€œThe Queen Mother said that?โ€ Lucas was stunned.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t childโ€™s play. Otherwise, the Queen Mother wouldnโ€™t have appointed Doug as the supervisory officer, my uncle Kolton as the deputy commander, and you to lead us. Our three thousand men are going to fight with our lives at stake. If we lose, we will have no remains left. If we win, it will be a great achievement,โ€ Isolde said.

Lucas's expression was confused. Indeed, if it were a prank, why would the Queen Mother let Doug supervise and Kolton be deputy commander?

โ€œThe King has long wanted to promote you. But because you once committed a serious mistake, promotion without military achievements would inevitably lead to gossip. She is giving you this opportunity.โ€

Isolde stood. โ€œPlease take me to inspect the troops.โ€

Lucas, calmer now, reasoned that Isolde, a woman, couldn't fight, but fortunately, Doug and Kolton were accompanying her. Everything would be fine as long as she followed their guidance.

โ€œWhat about the provisions?โ€ he asked.

โ€œDonโ€™t worry. The provisions will be prepared before you set off tomorrow,โ€ Isolde said.

โ€œItโ€™s very difficult,โ€ Lucas sighed. How could he prepare provisions for three thousand people in one night? It was impossible. However, he said nothing else, asking someone to blow the horn.

After the three thousand troops saw their new female marshal, Isolde, not in military attire and appearing just a young girl, no one accepted her authority. Isolde, anticipating this, challenged several deputy generals with good skills under the guise of offering advice, quickly subduing them. The drill ground fell silent.

Because provisions were urgent, Isolde approached Collin, who had been stockpiling provisions intending to sell them during a drought. With funds from the Ministry of Revenue delayed, Isolde asked him to release this batch. While insufficient, more provisions would arrive as the campaign progressed; getting through the critical moment was key.

Collin readily agreed, stating he wouldn't profit from the Royal Court on this batch but hoped Isolde would mention โ€œEverfort Granaryโ€ to the King upon her return. Isolde agreed, stating that all provisions would bear Everfort Granary seals and be sent out in their name. Collin was extremely pleased.

After arrangements were made, Isolde found Lucas, asking him to bring people to pack the provisions. Lucas was astonished. โ€œYouโ€™ve really raised it? The Ministry of Revenue is so fast?โ€

โ€œThe provisions are not from the Ministry of Revenue. Iโ€™m borrowing them from private citizens. Iโ€™ll claim the expenses from the Ministry of Revenue when I return.โ€

Lucas was overjoyed. โ€œGood, this is great. With provisions, we finally feel like we are going to fight.โ€

โ€œThen please go right away!โ€ Isolde said. โ€œAlso, because the Queen Mother said to transport the provisions in the name of a merchant, all provisions should be sealed with the seals of Everfort Granary, and the soldiers transporting them should be disguised in civilian clothes. Their battle robes will be hidden in the provision carts.โ€

โ€œAlright, alright!โ€ Lucas immediately cupped his hands. โ€œIโ€™ll do it immediately!โ€ He left swiftly.

Isolde visited Paletein Manor. Doug, having received the decree, was already preparing. He took Isoldeโ€™s hand, speaking worriedly. โ€œAlthough your uncle and I are with you, you are the marshal. You still have to be considerate. If thereโ€™s anything you donโ€™t understand, ask your uncle. You canโ€™t act on your own.โ€

โ€œI know. Donโ€™t worry. Since the Queen Mother trusts me, I will definitely do this job well.โ€

โ€œThis is not an errand. This is a matter of life and death.โ€ Doug was still worried and slightly regretful.

โ€œNo one can take my life. Even if I die, it will be the fate of being a general,โ€ Isolde said calmly.

โ€œYou really think of yourself as a marshal,โ€ Doug teased.

Isolde smiled. โ€œYes, I feel I am really energetic.โ€

โ€œBy the way, the Queen Mother personally arranged a wedding for you and Oliver. The wedding will be held the day after tomorrow. Now that they are in a hurry to organize it, I believe the people from the Mystic Palace have also informed your father about this. Go back and prepare for your wedding,โ€ Doug said.
