The Swordswomanโs Revenge Story after Rebirth
Chapter 215: Prank
Rosemary arranged for Cristina to wear a peach-colored embroidered dress. Meanwhile, the wedding party in the main courtyard was in full swing. Initially, only relatives were invited, but the arrival of a high-ranking official significantly elevated the atmosphere. Doug, Garrett, and the Sh family had no guests attending. The families and friends of both sides would not be confused. However, as the Queen Mother had arranged the marriage, everyone treated the occasion with utmost seriousness.
Rosemary, seated in the main hall, where the wedding ceremony had just concluded, called for the guests' attention. She announced an important matter. Everyone set down their wine glasses as Johnathan's maidservant presented a charming woman in peach-colored clothing. Agnes, returning from greeting Vespera, witnessed the scene with astonishment. Rosemary's agreement to this was completely out of character.
Cristina was brought before Rosemary, who sat with quiet authority. Johnathan remained seated beside her. As the principal wedding officials, they held esteemed positions, commanding respect even from Pablo. Rosemary observed Cristina's gaze fixed on Johnathan, her expression darkening slightly. She asked seriously, โCristina, are you willing to be a concubine?โ
Surprise rippled through the assembled guests. So she is Cristina. Isnโt she Oliverโs fiancรฉe? She wants to be a concubine? they wondered.
Cristinaโs eyes were firm. โThatโs right. I only wish to stay by the Marquisโโ
Rosemary interrupted. โYou only have to say yes or no. You donโt have to say anything unnecessary in front of everyone.โ
Cristina agreed. There was no need for such declarations before others; private conversation would suffice.
Rosemary said indifferently, โAlright. Since thatโs the case, Iโll accept you. In the future, remember your place and serve the legitimate wife respectfully.โ
Cristina sneered inwardly, Maybe I will be his wife in the future. However, she could only say, โYes. I know.โ
โSomeone, pour coffee!โ Rosemary commanded. โJust taking in a concubine; thereโs no need for so much trouble. A cup of coffee now, and your dream will come true.โ
Cristina, thinking, This unruly woman listens to the Marquis. He must have given strict orders for the ceremony to take place tonightโhe just couldnโt wait any longer. I canโt wait either. All I wish for is to lie by his side. I ask for nothing more, took the coffee without hesitation. She approached Rosemary, lowered her head, raised her cup, and said, โPlease!โ
A woman with a red diamond bracelet took the coffee cup and sat down. After a sip, she addressed Noelle, โGive it to me!โ
Noelle handed over a bracelet. Isolde, with an indifferent expression, gave it to Cristina. โThis is your rewardโtake it. From now on, be respectful to the elders and serve the Marquis and his wife diligently. No slacking off, or youโll be thrown out with nothing.โ
Cristinaโs fury erupted. โWhy are you here?โ
Rosemary had already stood and gestured to the maid, who pulled Cristina away. Cristina was stunned, looking at Johnathan in panic, but he seemed to be conversing with Isolde. What happened? she wondered.
A realization struck her. Rosemary had tricked her. She was not Johnathanโs concubine; she was Oliverโs. How vicious! I have to look for the Marquis. He must not know the situation, she thought.
As she turned, the maid grabbed her arm, saying sinisterly, โYouโd better be obedient. Otherwise, Lady Rosemary wonโt spare you.โ Cristina stared in horror.
Cristina had unexpectedly become Oliver's concubine. The drinking guests were abuzz, many believing she had embarrassed Arthur. However, some discerning individuals saw the truth. Cristina was intended for Johnathan, evident in her infatuated gaze.
The inebriated guests began to joke with Johnathan. Initially, he dismissed it, but their words grew more convincing. He turned to Rosemary, who met his gaze with a faint smile of tacit agreement.
Johnathanโs fury erupted. โNonsense! Stop talking!โ He stormed off.
Everyone knew of his upright nature and aversion to conflict. This matter, however, struck a raw nerve. The tipsy guests, realizing their mistake, panicked and apologized profusely to Rosemary.
Rosemary said slowly, โYou are right. She was shameless enough to have designs on my husband. I sent her to be Oliverโs concubine.โ
Agnes sensed impending trouble. Had Cristina been given to Johnathan, Arthur would have had no grounds to object. Now, with Rosemary orchestrating her placement with Oliver, she was clearly manipulating Cristina. Cristina's plan had backfired.
Pablo, harboring resentment towards Cristina for breaking off their engagement, had remained silent. He couldnโt retaliate directly, as she was Arthur's sister. Rosemary's actions, though, would ultimately damage Cristina's reputation, as Oliver was unavailable; she could still remarry.
Margaret, unwell, had left earlier, missing the entire incident. Upon discovering what transpired, she arrived only after the ceremony concluded. She didn't confront Rosemary directly, stating indifferently, โSheโs just an innocent girl. Why do you have to argue with her, Lady Rosemary?โ
Rosemary smiled coldly. โJust a little punishment. If she dares to pester the Marquis again, sheโll regret it.โ She stood and left. Tonight was settled. She would only address the matter of Isolde.
