Chapter 100
Students from Class 19 saw Betty crouching in front of Howardโs car and removing its screws. After taking off the screws, she threw them and the tool aside to get rid of all the evidence.
With the evidence gone, all the false accusations were once again pinned on Zinnia. In the Shaw family, Zinnia stood completely isolated. No one believed her, and no one came to her aid.
The truth was finally out. Students watched in stunned outrage, while Zinnia felt an amazing sense of relief as the truth unfolded before her eyes.
โI can already picture those forum trolls getting their faces slapped by the truth,โ someone remarked.
โBetty just posted on the forum,โ one of their classmates who had been paying attention to Facebook immediately announced.
โWhat did she say?โ Maisie asked.
A girl said, โBetty said she believed Zinnia didnโt mean it. Please donโt judge Zinnia too harshly. Since she was the one mistakenly raised in the Shaw family, itโs only natural for Zinnia to resent her. After all, she probably owes Zinnia that much anyway.
โAs for the pool incident, she knew she was wrong. She just didnโt want to make Mom and Dad unhappy on her birthday. She never thought it would blow up like this.โ
A girl conveyed Bettyโs comments from Facebook.
โDamn, hypocrite! She waited until the scandal blew up to play the saint,โ Maisie fumed.
Itโs obvious Bettyโs faking humility to gain public attention.
She was deliberately playing the victim to fish for everyoneโs sympathy.
Lydia let out a cold laugh. โItโs such a calculated move. She climbs her way up by stepping on others,โ she scoffed.
Lydia had saved all the videos. She deliberately zoomed in on every revealing expression of Bettyโs, determined to expose her true colors. Then she put all the videos together into a compilation.
Lydiaโs voice was icy as she asked, โHas Ethan wrapped things up?โ
Maisie replied, โItโs all sorted. The OP on Facebook admitted he made everything up. Someone paid him to do it.โ
Maisie glanced at their group chat and saw that Brian had just posted a video.
The boy in the video had a bruised and swollen face, sobbing uncontrollably as he confessed that someone had put him up to it.
Lydia said coldly, โAlright, Iโll make sure this video reaches everyone. If she wants to play dirty, letโs turn up the heat. Letโs see if she can bear it."
โKeep an eye on the comments. Note down anyone who insults Zinnia and report them to me,โ Lydia commanded calmly.
Lydia thought, โStill not giving up? Fine, letโs really duke it out and see who prevails.
โItโs high time Betty tasted her own medicine.โ
Lydia remained eerily calm. Whenever they faced a problem, she was always the one to take charge, and Class 19 had long since learned to follow her lead without question.
Maisie glanced at the newly received forensic report on her phone and forwarded it to Lydia. โLydia, add this to the file,โ she instructed.
The fingerprint report implicated Betty. Evidence such as the necklace, the shredded contract, and the discarded screws and crime tools all pointed to her.
Every piece of evidence matched Bettyโs fingerprints. The report had just been sent to her by Yannis, who had dispatched personnel to collect evidence. In wealthy families like the Shaws, someone usually takes care of sorting the trash. Theyโll keep it for at least a year or so, just in case they accidentally throw something important away.
Lydia glanced at the report, added it to the evidence file, and then immediately hit send without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Betty was hiding in the bathroom, a smirk on her face as she watched all the negative comments about Zinnia.
โZinnia, youโll never outplay me,โ Betty thought with a sneer. โI gave you a chance to walk away, but you just had to push your luck. Then youโll never get a chance to turn things around.
โShe should never have dared to set her sights on Yannis,โ Betty thought angrily.
When it came to the Shaw family, Betty thought with contempt, โI just want Zinnia to go back to her own place, but she flirted with Yannis. I will never let her go.โ Betty was totally consumed with jealousy.
โHow dare that bitch get close to him? I couldnโt achieve it in over a decade!โ she thought.
Last time, she never expected Zinnia to get help from the Lynn family. Zinnia completely took Betty by surprise, leaving her to accept that bitter defeat. With the Lynn family out of the picture, Jackson on a business trip, Charlie nothing but a bookworm, and Isaac away in another city, thereโs no one left to shield Zinnia. โLetโs see who she can turn to for help this time,โ Betty thought smugly.
Zinnia already bothered Yannis once. Yannis hated getting involved. Thereโs no way heโll help her again this time.
Yannis absolutely detested people who tried to use him repeatedly just to climb the social ladder.
Not even Jacksonโs connections would work.
Just imagining Zinniaโs utter ruin, Betty smiled ever wider. Her mask couldnโt hide the malicious gleam in her eyes.
But as she smirked, the scratches on her face stung, making her wince in pain. A wave of gloom washed over her again.
Yesterday, for some reason, not long after she left the office with Maelis, her face broke out in a rash. It was so itchy that she felt like she wanted to just scratch her whole face off.
Maelis rushed Betty to the hospital, but the doctors couldnโt find anything wrong and just blamed it on allergies. Betty couldnโt help but think to herself, โWhat a loser!โ
She was prescribed some ointment, and the itching eased a little. But when she got back home, the itching drove her crazy. She wanted to just peel her skin off.
Later, someone posted a video of her at the hospital, and it made her so mad that she started throwing things around the room.
In the end, it was the Moon Scar Cream sheโd stolen from Zinnia that finally cleared up the rash on her face.
She just had a few bloody scratches on her face from where Zinnia had scratched it. Once sheโs back home and puts some cream on it for a couple days, she should be back to normal pretty quickly.
Sheโs almost out of the Moon Scar Cream, so she needs to check Zinniaโs room to see if thereโs any left.
Betty thought bitterly, โIf I had known, I wouldnโt have given that bottle of Moon Scar Cream to Anne. I didnโt realize it worked so well! If I had kept it, I could have used it for any injuries I might get later.
โIโm not sure if Anne has finished using it yet. I need to come up with a way to get it back from her,โ Betty thought.
She had no idea that Zinnia actually had some good stuff. Moon Scar Cream is something they couldnโt even get their hands on, but Zinnia just had it.
Anne sat in class, working on her problems, but she couldnโt shake this strange feeling of unease. Glancing at the posts by Betty, she bit her lip.
Anne thought, โBetty, do you really dislike Zinnia that much?โ She is determined to go find Betty.
But the next second, her gaze locked onto her phone screen and she froze in shock.
