Chapter 154
The group fell silent, then rushed Ethan to the school infirmary in a panic. The school nurse, after examining him, was surprised; this strong young man had fainted from fear. After giving Ethan some sugar water, she left the room. Maisie looked at the still-unconscious Ethan, then turned to Zinnia and asked, โZinnia, are you sure about what you said?โ
โAbsolutely,โ Zinnia nodded.
Ethanโs eyes suddenly opened. Spotting Zinnia, he sat up quickly, grabbing her sleeve. โZinnia, please help me. I donโt want to die yet!โ
Ethan woke up suddenly, crying with fear. I havenโt even had the chance to make my mark yet. How can I be dying already? he thought desperately.
โDonโt worry, itโs not that serious yet,โ Zinnia reassured him, patting his shoulder. She had frowned earlier, noticing his condition, but thankfully, it wasn't serious.
โReally, Zinnia?โ Ethan looked at her with pleading eyes.
โDonโt worry, Iโll prepare the medicine for you tonight when I get home,โ Zinnia said softly. โI promise, I wonโt let anything bad happen to you. Just take it for two weeks, and youโll start feeling much better.โ
โZinnia, I trust you,โ Ethan said, holding Zinniaโs sleeve and nodding strongly. Her bright, calm eyes reassured him.
Seeing Ethan awake, everyone returned to class, while Ethan took a break to get checked at the hospital. Though he trusted Zinnia, it was better to be safe than sorry.
When they returned to class, everyone crowded around, eager to learn what was wrong. The group shrugged and said it was only low blood sugar.
By noon, Ethan returned after his checkup. He had intestinal inflammation, but luckily, it was caught early and wasn't too severe. The hospital gave him anti-inflammatory medicine and laxatives.
At lunchtime, they went to the cafeteria. Ethan joined Zinnia as a vegetarian. Sitting across from her with a tray of veggie dishes, Ethan sighed, โZinnia, weโre in the same boat now.โ
The doctor told Ethan to eat lightly; he couldnโt even have his favorite cola. Zinnia had to give up her juice, settling for low-sugar milk instead. Still, sharing these dietary restrictions made Zinnia feel better.
Yannis told Maisie to watch over Zinnia, so for lunch, Zinnia had beans, peppers, and mushrooms. Evershine High hired excellent chefs, so even the vegetarian dishes were delicious. Since Zinnia needed to eat less meat and avoid greasy or salty foods, these tasty options were a great help.
Seeing how appetizing the vegetarian food was, Zinnia felt less resistant. She thought, The Shaw familyโs veggie meals made me feel sick to my stomach and lose hope for life.
โZinnia, ask Yannis to order you something tasty tonight,โ Maisie said. None of them had meat dishes; they shared the experience. โVegetarian is healthy anyway,โ she added with a smile.
Zinnia kept eating.
Someone passing by excitedly said, โHey, did you hear? Neo is back and throwing a party in three days!โ
โI wonder if thereโs a chance to get close to Neo and maybe get him to share that Moon Scar Cream with us. That cream feels amazing!โ
Ethan looked confused. โHe hasnโt left yet?โ
Chapter 154
Anneโs father had called the Moore family, hoping for their help. Their youngest heir, Neo, came to assess the situation.
After Anne woke up, Neo went around bragging that it was all thanks to the Moore family. Zinnia's contribution remained unknown; everyone believed Neo had single-handedly helped, taking all the credit.
These days, everyone in their circle praised Neo. However, those who knew him personally were aware of his spoiled, arrogant, and bossy nature. Invitations to his party had been pouring in; he was making a considerable fuss over it.
Maisie said, โNot yet. From what Grandpa told me, the Moore family is having troubles overseas. Theyโre barely hanging on and thinking about returning.โ
Ethan scoffed. โThe Moore family isnโt the same. They really think they can make a comeback? Please. If it werenโt for what the former head built, no one would care about the Moores.โ
โMy dad says the guy running the Moore family now is a total loser. If not for their ancestorsโ reputation, theyโd have disappeared long ago.โ
Zinnia stayed quiet. The group didnโt discuss the Moores much, and none of them planned to attend Neoโs party.
โHey, do you guys know where Kintar Avenue is?โ Zinnia asked, thinking about the address her master gave her.
She didnโt know Jinston well and had no idea where Kintar Avenue was located. Sheโd planned to take a cab there yesterday, but her plans changed.
Ethan said, โKintar Avenue? Isnโt that the Moore familyโs old estate?โ
Maisie added, โAfter they moved abroad a few years ago and experienced financial difficulties, they sold it. Some anonymous businessman bought it. Why do you ask, Zinnia?โ
โMy dad wanted to buy the Moore familyโs old estate back then, but he missed out,โ Ethan said.
Zinnia thought, The Moores again. It all comes back to them.
โJust asking,โ Zinnia said, concealing her suspicion.
โHey, do you guys know much about the Moore family?โ Zinnia asked.
Maisie explained, โWe donโt know much about the Moores. They moved abroad twenty years ago, before our time. Weโve only heard the elders mention a few things. The Moores used to be as powerful as the Lynns and the Perkins. Their new head, Richard, is very impressive; he turned things around for them. My dad, my mom, and even my grandpa speak highly of him.โ
โWho are the main people in their family?โ Zinnia asked, eager to learn more.
Brian said, โRichard; his wife, Hannah; and their son, Nathan. Nathan was the pride of the circle. If he had lived to adulthood, he might have been a real genius.โ
