Chapter 165
One look at Yannisโs face, and it was clear: Neo was in trouble. Of all the people he could have antagonized, this clueless fool had to pick those two girls. Neo's group fainted, and since they weren't waking up quickly, the officers placed them in an interrogation room.
By the time the officers arrived, many had regained consciousness as the drug effects wore off, leaving them groggy. Opening their eyes to iron bars and two officers, the reality hit hard. Faces paled; many had never been in a police station before, and fear gnawed at them.
โHow did we end up here?โ
โI remember fighting; Maisie hits hard.โ
โMan, how did I black out so fast? I swear I heard sirens just before I passed out.โ
โWho called the cops? Are they crazy?โ
โWhereโs Neo?โ
His followers called out nervously, looking around. After all, they were all there because of him.
โHey! Isnโt that Neo?โ A girl spotted Neoโs swollen, rash-covered, and bruised face and screamed.
โWhat happened to Neo?โ The crowd recoiled in horror, creating distance.
โNo noise. Now that youโre awake, call your parents or guardians.โ
The two officers, with cold faces, silenced the rowdy crowd with a single command. The detainees took out their phones, feeling upset and frustrated. They thought, โWho wouldโve guessed a simple party would land us here? Who called the cops?โ
โNeo, please wake up.โ Kaelen, summoning his courage and fighting his disgust, gently nudged Neo. Of everyone, Neo was the most important.
โWhatโs wrong with my face? Why does it hurt so much? Why is it so itchy?โ Neo woke up, hurting everywhere. An unbearable itch consumed his face. He clawed at his skin, leaving bloody scratches.
His face was already swollen and covered in angry red hives. After scratching frantically, he was unrecognizable. Some of the more sensitive people closed their eyes, unable to bear the sight.
โStop scratching! Youโre breaking out in hives. Youโll ruin your face!โ Seeing blood under Neo's nails and his ravaged face, Kaelen grabbed his hand.
โYou idiot! Get me a doctor!โ Neo snapped, his eyes so swollen he could barely open them. Feeling Kaelen's presence, he viciously kicked him. Kaelen flinched, anger flashing across his face.
Fed up, Kaelen glared at Neo and stepped back. โTake me to a hospital! Call a doctor!โ Neo shouted.
The two officers moved closer, yelling, โQuiet down!โ
Neo jumped up, glaring at the officers. โHow dare you yell at me? Do you know who I am?โ He lunged at them, fists clenched.
As he moved, a sharp pain shot through his leg. His face, covered in bloody scratches, paled. He twisted, trying to open his swollen eyes, but saw only two figures in black uniforms.
He strained to see, but his swollen eyes narrowed to slits, blurring his surroundings.
โNeo, weโre at the police station,โ another guy whispered urgently, unable to watch his recklessness.
โWho the heck called the cops?โ Neo roared, realizing their location.
Before leaving, his dad had warned him many times: โDonโt cause trouble. Our family isnโt what it used to be, and getting back into the market wonโt be easy.โ Neo worried his dad would find out.
He shivered at the thought of his dadโs angry stare. โDid those bitches call the cops? Bring them here. Iโll kill them,โ Neo shouted.
His rough, desperate shouts reached Niles and others as they arrived. Niles felt a little sympathy for him. Neo was a spoiled bratโrude, arrogant, and useless. Yet, he had angered two people one never wanted to cross.
Niles saw Yannis's cold, serious demeanor. His sharply defined face was emotionless, his brow furrowed, and his eyes flashed.
Listening to Neoโs arrogant ranting, Yannis told Niles, his voice cold and flat, โNiles, I want to speak privately with Neo.โ
โIโll bring him out,โ Niles replied.
He thought, โIn Jinston, the Perkins family controls half the city. For Yannis, dealing with Neo is easy.โ Niles quickly signaled the officers.
The officers quickly took Neo out of the room.
โWhere are you taking Neo?โ
โHands off Neo!โ
Neoโs lackeys panicked. He was their biggest supporter, having promised to take the blame. They couldn't leave him.
โLet me go! Where are you taking me?โ Panic seized Neo as he was dragged away. He struggled wildly, but to no avail.
โYannis, this way,โ Niles guided Yannis to another interrogation room.
The officers brought Neo inside. Neither dared look at Yannis, whose icy gaze seemed to freeze the room.
The door clicked shut. With limited vision, Neo only saw dull concrete walls. The bright overhead light stung his eyes, making him uneasy.
Every instinct screamed: โThis room is dangerous. If I donโt get out now, Iโll regret it forever.โ
Neo said, โWhy did you bring me here? Donโt you know Iโm from the Moore family?โ
โLet me out! Get me out of here!โ Neo yelled desperately.
He kept shouting, demanding to leave, but received no answer. A strange fear grew in the heavy silence.
โWhat a coward. The Moore family raised a useless piece of trash,โ Yannis scoffed, one hand in his pocket, looking at Neo's unrecognizable swollen face.
Neo yelled, โWho gave you the nerve to bring me here? Are you working with that bitch? Iโm from the Moore family. Let me go!โ
After a while, Neo saw someone sitting before him. Squinting through his swollen eyes, he saw only the vague outline of a tall figure.
