Chapter 217

Maelis shouted behind them, โ€œItโ€™s all your fault! Why did you tell me the truth?โ€

They turned and saw Maelis with a fierce look, breaking a vase against Henry. The whole family gasped, shocked at Maelisโ€™s meanness; they couldnโ€™t stop it in time.

โ€œGrandpa!โ€ Charlie shouted.

Sofia wailed, โ€œHenry!โ€

Blood gushed from Henryโ€™s neck. His eyes froze, pupils widened. He went limp and fell backward.

Isaac got scared and held Henry up.

Henry was old. Maelisโ€™s hit sent pieces [of the vase] into his neck, and blood poured out.

โ€œHenry,โ€ Sofia said, her face pale and her legs weakened.

โ€œCharlie, hurry, check Grandpa!โ€ Jacksonโ€™s face hardened. He pulled out his phone to call 911.

Charlie was already checking on Henry.

The Lynn family felt a deep ache inside.

โ€œQuick, get Grandpa to the hospital! Itโ€™s urgent. Hurry up. I canโ€™t tell how bad it is; he needs tests right away.โ€ Charlie felt cold inside.

Henry was not doing well. He was old and had bad headaches. Maelisโ€™s sudden strike was too much for him.

After Maelis hit Henry, her hands shook. The vase she held broke to pieces. She stepped back. Jacksonโ€™s cold look made her scared and still.

โ€œIโ€™ve called 911. Itโ€™ll take at least ten minutes for them to arrive. The restaurant has a medical team on standby; Iโ€™ve asked them to come over,โ€ Jackson said, his voice heavy.

โ€œMaelis, our family has had terrible luck since we met you,โ€ Sofia said, her chest hurting with anger. Seeing Henry unconscious, her eyes turned red. She stepped forward and slapped Maelis hard on the face.

The slap seemed to wake Maelis up. She paused, and then touched her throbbing face. โ€œItโ€™s your fault! Why did you have to tell me the truth?โ€ She glared at them, eyes bloodshot, screaming hoarsely.

She turned to run. Jackson turned to chase her, his gaze icy. Just then, the door burst open. As Maelis reached the door, Yannis grabbed her, twisted her arm, and slammed her to the ground. โ€œAh!โ€ Maelis screamed out in pain.

โ€œGrandpa!โ€ Zinnia ran into the room.

โ€œZinnia. Help your grandpa.โ€ When Sofia saw Zinnia, her eyes reddened, her voice raspy, her throat aching. Zinnia had studied with the Moore family, and Sofia believed that Zinnia could save Henry.

Zinnia had no time to speak. She rushed to Charlieโ€™s side and checked on Henry, her heart tight. โ€œPut Grandpa down face down!โ€

Isaac put Henry face down on the sofa in the room.

Zinnia quickly pulled three silver needles from her bag and stuck them one by one into Henryโ€™s head.

Maelis had recklessly hit Henry on a vital spot on his neck. At best, brain death; at worst, instant death. Both were unacceptable. Zinnia was running out of time.

โ€œLet me go!โ€ Maelis was pinned down by Yannis on the ground, her face scraping against the floor, her eyes wild with fear.

Howard and Timothy rushed in, panicked. Seeing Maelis pinned down, both brothers gasped. They didnโ€™t think that in just one day, Maelis could be in this state.

โ€œSave me. Save me now!โ€ Seeing her sons, Maelisโ€™s eyes lit up with hope as she shouted hoarsely.

โ€œYannis, what did my mother do to deserve this?โ€ Howardโ€™s face darkened with anger. Recently, they still cared for her, and seeing her treated this way made him furious.

He bent to pull Maelis up, though she had done some bad things.

โ€œWhat did she do? Something that will put your whole family in jail.โ€ Yannis glared at the brothers, his eyes threatening.

โ€œLet go of me. I didnโ€™t mean it. They deserved it.โ€ Maelis twisted and fought fiercely.

โ€œBe quiet!โ€ Zinniaโ€™s voice cut through the room, sharp and clear.

โ€œShut up.โ€ Yannis snatched a rug off the floor and stuffed it into Maelisโ€™s mouth.

The thick rug gagged Maelis, her face flushed crimson. Her eyes were bloodshot. She glared at Yannis with hatred.

Maelis thrashed wildly, but her weak struggles were nothing to Yannis. His worried gaze shifted to Henry nearby.

Zinniaโ€™s face was tense. Seeing her like that, Yannis knew that Henryโ€™s condition probably wasnโ€™t good. Yannis was worried about her.

The Shaw brothers glanced into the private room. They first met the Lynn familyโ€™s stern gaze. Then they saw a shattered vase on the floor.

Sofia stood nearby with a pale face, and Henry lay unconscious on the sofa. There were also bloodstains on the floor.

An absurd thought hit them. The Shaw brothers turned to Maelis, their eyes wide with disbelief. Even they hadnโ€™t expected her to do such a thing.

The Lynn family didnโ€™t care about the Shaws. Their focus was only on Henry.

โ€œGet out of here! Our family wonโ€™t ever spare yours,โ€ Sofia yelled angrily when she saw the brothers. Her eyes were red with tears. She regretted her kindness towards Maelis. Now Henry was hurt.

Sofiaโ€™s glare chilled the brothers. They felt their family was surely doomed. They dashed toward Maelis to pull her away.

Yannis looked at Jackson. Jackson nodded. Then Yannis let Maelis go.

Henryโ€™s situation was the most important right now. If Maelis kept staying in the room, she would just upset Sofia.

The Lynn family let Maelis leave for now, but that didnโ€™t mean this issue was over. Once they made sure Henry was okay, they would deal with Maelis and her family.

Maelis leaving now was no better than being taken to jail. The Shaw brothers pulled Maelis up and took the rug out of her mouth. She coughed badly from choking. Her legs were too weak to stand, so they dragged her along like a weight.

โ€œYouโ€™re all getting what you deserve,โ€ Maelis said sharply with a mean look at the Lynn family behind her.

In a second, Jackson grabbed a fruit tray and threw it at her. โ€œGet out!โ€

The tray hit her face hard, breaking into pieces. Bits cut Maelisโ€™s cheek. โ€œAh!โ€ she screamed, twisting in pain.

โ€œMomโ€ฆโ€ Howardโ€™s eyes hurt. They couldnโ€™t believe Maelis actually said something like that. Without bothering with Jackson, the brothers quickly dragged Maelis away. They had to leave before things got worse.
