Chapter 269
"I personally manage Ms. Moss's medication. I don't make these kinds of mistakes. Mr. Caden, I suggest you investigate this thoroughly."
Caden reviewed the medication records impassively. It seemed absurd. But now that it had happened, someone needed to be held accountable. "Where were the medicines kept?" he asked.
"In the pharmacy and the warehouse," the doctor replied.
"And where could someone access them without authorization?" Caden pressed.
The doctor paused. "In the treatment room."
"When I was absent, did Yolanda visit the treatment room?" Caden asked directly.
The doctor looked bewildered. "Are you suggesting Miss Moss—"
"Right now, everyone is under suspicion," Caden interrupted firmly. "Just answer the question."
After consulting with the staff, the doctor returned. "Miss Moss bit her tongue and requested treatment to get stitches."
Caden closed the file and stood, heading to the living room. Yolanda's eyes opened as he approached, just as she anticipated.
"Why aren't you with Miss Bennett?" he asked softly.
He stood at the bedside, his gaze sharp and unwavering. "Does your tongue still hurt?"
Yolanda's eyes widened. She appeared confused.
"I didn't expect this from you. You're really willing to go to such lengths, aren't you?" Caden said.
Yolanda was stunned by his quick deduction. Naturally, she wouldn't confess. "Caden, I don't understand what you're talking about."
Caden wasted no time. "I'm not going to touch you, Yolanda. You are Dorian's daughter, after all."
Yolanda's lips trembled. "Caden, what are you saying?"
While he didn't openly accuse her, he maintained his distance. He wouldn't let this go easily. "Your illness is not something I can manage. Regardless of the outcome, I will send you back before Christmas," Caden declared.
A wave of helplessness washed over Yolanda. The collapse of her plan was shameful, but his coldness stung even more. With less than two weeks until Christmas, she knew he meant it. What could she accomplish in such a short time?
