Chapter 310:
The security guard, feeling nervous, answered honestly, "Yes." Caden wasn't surprised; he knew Alicia well. These were tactics he'd taught her himself—always emphasizing the importance of a backup plan to gain the upper hand. Without delay, he headed to the gallery.
The moment Alicia's assistant spotted Caden, she rushed over, worry etched on her face. "Mr. Ward, have you seen Ms. Bennett? She hasn't returned my calls all day and night. Did something happen to her?"
Caden briefly explained Alicia's illness and hospitalization. The assistant exclaimed, "I knew this would happen! She's been overworking herself. Yesterday, she looked terrible. I told her to see a doctor, but she refused. Now look at her—completely worn out!" Tears welled in her eyes.
Caden transferred her money, instructing, "Get her some food she likes and visit her at the hospital." Earlier that morning, after some persuasion—and threats—Alicia had managed a small portion of soup, but it was far from sufficient nutrition. Perhaps someone else's offering would be accepted.
After the assistant left, Caden went to Alicia's office. The surveillance footage was already up on her computer, as expected. The screen demanded a password. Entering his birthday unlocked it instantly. Caden paused, fingers hovering above the keyboard, a sharp pang seizing his heart. He opened the video.
Yolanda's actions, thanks to some selective editing, were undeniably clear. Whether intentional or not, the segment showing Alicia's retaliatory slap remained untouched. Caden watched twice, a sense of satisfaction washing over him as he witnessed Alicia's swift, decisive action. He grinned, saved a copy, and forwarded it to Dorian under his own name.
Dorian's face grew serious upon viewing the video. Regina, too, watched, finding it too disturbing to view again. Yolanda's cruelty was starkly evident.
"Is this real?" Regina asked.
Dorian replied gravely, "Do you think Caden would send us a fake?"
Regina's expression hardened. Yolanda was indeed capable of such actions. "I had no idea she could be so evil," she whispered, a shiver running down her spine.
Dorian, equally shocked, was immediately concerned about Caden's reaction. The sent video was a clear warning. "Caden doesn't target the innocent," he said. "He believes those responsible should fix their own messes. He's not letting Yolanda get away with this."
Regina sighed, closing her eyes, accepting the inevitable. Dorian felt compelled to ask, "If he knows everything, why did he insist Alicia apologize? What is he planning?"
