Chapter 340:

Shelia’s audacity stemmed from her preparedness. She produced a psychiatric diagnosis report and flung it onto the table. Sharp and calculating, she remained just within the bounds of the law, provoking both Alicia and Caden without committing a punishable offense. Eventually, they left the police station.

Shelia smirked, taunting Caden. “You think you’re so tough? Why didn’t you kill me back there? Incapacity, or are you as soft-hearted as your mother?”

His mother's name darkened Caden's eyes. Alicia instinctively glanced at him, then back towards the police station, noting its emptiness. After a moment, she surveyed their surroundings.

Shelia’s excitement grew, her voice laced with venom. “Caden, I know you despise me. You hate me for destroying your family, for your mother’s death. If you have the courage, kill me, avenge your mother. But you won’t, will you? You have your business to consider; you can’t just kill people. You’re just like your mother, who overlooked me to win Jerald back. And what did she gain? Death at the hands of her beloved! Caden, this is your karma. Your mother deserved her fate, and you, a bastard, deserve to be an orphan!”

Her final scream pushed Caden to his limit. He lunged forward, seizing her throat. Shelia’s face paled with fear, yet defiance lingered. Caden’s grip remained firm, his face stern. Within seconds, Shelia’s complexion turned purple, panic rising.

Alicia moved closer, pressing down on Caden’s wrist. “Caden, let go,” she said, her tone soft but firm. “Remember the cameras!”

He seemed oblivious. Alicia, sensing his rage, cautiously suggested, “Caden, step to the right. The cameras don’t cover that spot.” As she spoke, she worked to loosen his grip. Shelia needed consequences, but not at the cost of Caden’s future.

Finally, Caden released her. Shelia collapsed. Alicia theatrically shook her before pulling her towards their car. When Shelia regained consciousness, she resisted. Alicia swiftly subdued her, recognizing her intent.

“You did this deliberately. You wanted Caden to kill you, to land him in prison, didn’t you?”

Shelia glared. “This is none of your business. Back off!”

Alicia scoffed. “I will stay out of it. And Caden isn’t as foolish as you think.”
