Chapter 388
“I will take him back to Joy Mansion, and afterward, I will contact his family,” she said.
Alicia nodded in agreement. Ciara added, “I owe you my gratitude. If anything happened to him, I wouldn't know how to face his family. Alicia, it’s nearly lunchtime. Why don’t you come back to Joy Mansion with me?”
Alicia, hesitant after refusing previous invitations, finally agreed. “Okay.”
Ciara smiled warmly. “By the way, Alicia, have you heard any news about Jerald?”
Alicia’s heart tightened. “What happened to him?”
“He was in a car accident last night and is now disabled,” Ciara sighed. “Caden has endured hardship and is finally finding happiness.”
A whirlwind of emotions swept over Alicia. Caden, after so much suffering, had finally achieved his desires. Yet, they had argued earlier; he was likely angry.
After a brief visit to the gallery, Alicia arrived at Joy Mansion before noon, bringing homemade pastries. Hearing Ciara’s voice from the slightly open side room door, she overheard, “I finally brought Alicia, and you’re not coming back? What’s wrong with you, you little brat?”
Alicia realized Ciara was speaking to Caden, who likely wouldn’t return for lunch, wanting to avoid her after their argument. This brought her a sense of relief.
Later, a distressed Ciara emerged. Alicia greeted her with a smile, offering a box of low-sugar desserts. “I made these myself. Please try them.”
Ciara’s frustration eased at the thoughtful gesture. Caden’s loss for not coming back, she thought. After sampling one, she complimented, “You really have a talent for this, Alicia. They’re delicious.”
Alicia blushed modestly.
