Chapter 399
Ciara sighed. โWith such a strong rival, donโt you feel any sense of urgency?โ
Caden chuckled lightly. โAlicia doesnโt like the hypocritical type.โ
Ciaraโs tone turned sarcastic. โRight, she prefers those who are stubbornly aloof.โ
Caden was speechless. Whose grandmother are you, really?
Having observed everything, Ciara understood that Blake was no ordinary man. โLet me tell you something: anyone associated with the Ward family should never be underestimated. Stay vigilant,โ she warned.
After Ciara left, Caden remained standing in silence, lost in thought. Blake closed the door behind him and approached Caden, his expression filled with regret. โCaden, Ray doesnโt want to leave. Since I plan to stay in Warrington for a while, would it be alright if he stayed here temporarily?โ
Caden wasnโt one to make a fuss. โAlright.โ
Blakeโs face lit up. โThank you.โ
Caden retorted, โThatโs a bit hypocritical, even for you. Thereโs no one else around, so you donโt need to put on an act.โ
Blake remained unfazed. โI genuinely appreciate it. Even if youโre grumpy and pretentious, I owe you one.โ
Caden replied flatly, โIf you truly mean it, then stay away from my woman.โ
Blake raised an eyebrow. โWhatโs the matter? Are you worried I might beat you?โ
Caden scoffed. โWhat do you think you have that could possibly compete with me?โ
Blake was fully aware of his limitations. He never intended to compete with Caden for Aliciaโs affections. Whether Alicia had feelings for Caden or not, he understood he simply didnโt have the means to surpass him. Still, speaking as a man, Blake said, โAlicia is truly a wonderful woman. If you genuinely care for her, please donโt put each other through unnecessary torment.โ
Caden remained silent, Blakeโs words stirring irritation. He responded coldly, โWhat happens between Alicia and me is none of your concern.โ
Blake sighed, realizing he was in Cadenโs domain and had no desire to create conflict. He decided to end the conversation and leave.
As time passed, Blake became more familiar with Joy Mansion, and Ray began to engage more with Ciara. When in a stable mood, he was a well-mannered child. Ciara grew fond of him, and Blake noticed this each time he visited, bringing gifts for both Ray and Ciara to show his gratitude.
A month passed quickly. Blake found himself visiting more often than Caden, who, caught up in work, had only visited once, while Blake had come five or six times. One day, Ciara casually remarked, โSo which one of you is actually my grandson?โ
