Chapter 455

As Alicia turned to lead the way, she felt a gaze on her back. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw Caden watching intently. In the sweltering summer heat, his casually worn custom shirt exuded relaxed confidence. As he approached, Alicia smiled.

"I thought you weren't coming?" she asked. His presence filled her with joy.

Caden noticed her blush and raised an eyebrow. "I was having dinner nearby and thought I'd see how you handle big clients." His teasing tone prompted Alicia to playfully pinch his waist, revealing solid muscle beneath her fingers. She wondered how much he trained to achieve such definition.

Leading Alicia into the private room, Caden spotted Corey admiring a sunflower painting, a gentle smile and warmth in his eyes—a rare sight. Caden wondered if Corey had a special someone. The painting's style, however, didn't seem typically feminine. Was it for a child? Corey had dated, but never settled down. A child would likely have been reported by the media.

When Corey saw them enter, he quickly put away the painting, his warmth fading. "Mr. Ward, I see you're here too," he said, forcing a smile. "I never believed the rumors about you two, but seeing you together… I'm impressed. The man who claimed disinterest in women seems captivated."

Caden responded coolly, "I'm more surprised by you, Mr. Hampton. Since when are you interested in paintings?"

Corey replied cleverly, "Who could resist when Ms. Bennett has such exquisite taste? Each piece resonates with me. It's rare to find something you truly appreciate."

Caden settled into his chair, turning to Alicia. "Did you give Mr. Hampton a discount?"

Alicia smiled knowingly. "Of course." She'd anticipated a tense dinner, but Corey seemed genuinely there to enjoy the meal. Caden conversed with him effortlessly, as if they were old friends.

As dinner concluded, Corey raised his glass. Alicia smiled and picked up hers. "Sorry, Mr. Hampton, I'm allergic to alcohol; I'll toast with water."

Corey shrugged, downing his drink. Alicia took a delicate sip. Corey quickly lowered his gaze.

The three rose from the table, leaving one by one with lighthearted chatter and laughter.
