Chapter 478
"I need to know everything he's up to!"
Corey scoffed. "I don't know whether to praise your dedication or laugh at your stupidity."
Yolanda, however, was preoccupied with a single question. "What were you doing at Caden's this morning?"
Corey lit a cigarette and inhaled slowly. "I brought a bag of cash and offered to buy Alicia from him."
"How much?"
"Seven hundred million dollars." Yolanda was stunned. Seven hundred million was a considerable sum. While Caden wasn't short of money, seven hundred million dollars far exceeded the value of a single woman. Yet, Corey had returned alone, and Caden had sent back a masturbation cup. The deal was clearly rejected. Alicia meant more to Caden than seven hundred million dollars.
Yolanda's hands clenched into fists. "Vuell, I don't know whether to call you stupid or Alicia cheap for reducing Caden to this state!"
Leaning back, Corey closed his eyes, reflecting on the events. He'd spent half a month formulating his plan. Obtaining the seven hundred million dollars had been the easy part. He knew presenting the offer would expose his intentions, putting Caden on guard and complicating future plans. However, he believed Caden would eventually discover his machinations, so he'd proceeded. He'd miscalculated, though. Caden's affection for Alicia far surpassed his expectations.
"What do you even want that woman for?" Yolanda demanded. "You actually offered seven hundred million? Ha! I really underestimated you, you pervert!"
Corey groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You're too damn noisy. Men don't like loud women. If you changed that, maybe Caden would spare a glance at you. Got it?"
In a fit of anger, Yolanda swept her arm across the coffee table, sending everything crashing to the floor. "Why are you being so reserved with your methods?" she spat. "If Caden won't let go of Alicia, then make the choice for him and ruin her reputation. Hire thugs to... to take liberties with her. Let's see if Caden would even look her way again after that."
Corey flicked ash from his cigarette, giving her a wry look. "You've known Caden since childhood. You should know how he works. Remember when Joshua kidnapped Alicia? She wasn't harmed, but Joshua ended up blind, crippled, and imprisoned. Go down this path, and you'll face a far worse fate."
Yolanda's jealousy faltered as she grasped the severity of her suggestion.
"Besides," Corey continued calmly, "Caden is cautious. He's thrived for years without anyone gaining leverage. Even with Jerald, he handled it effortlessly. He has incredible restraint. But he did lose control with Joshua. Just a little."
Yolanda gritted her teeth. "I don't need you to remind me how much he cares for that woman, Alicia!" But Corey remained focused on his primary objective: confronting Caden.
