Chapter 518:
“Why not send it straight to Caden?” Corey asked. “Why involve an elderly woman?”
Yolanda answered bitterly, “Because of how Caden has treated me! Since he’s not in Warrington, I’ll target his family and make him endure the anguish my father suffered because of me.”
Watching her consumed by vengeance, Corey leaned closer. “What exactly did Caden do to upset you so much?”
Yolanda’s hand slipped, smearing lipstick across her face, accentuating her already pale appearance. A flicker of a smile might have played on her lips, but her eyes filled with tears.
“Caden took Alicia to Terriland.” Corey’s expression hardened.
Terriland? Caden had been secretly hiding there for the past few weeks. Corey wondered if Caden’s actions had inadvertently intersected with his own affairs. He suspected as much but knew he must proceed cautiously.
“How do you know he’s in Terriland?”
Yolanda closed her eyes, her voice trembling. “He orchestrated a fireworks display for Alicia there… using a drone.”
What an extravagant gesture! Caden, concealed in Terriland, had arranged fireworks simply because Alicia enjoyed them. Fireworks, in many cultures, symbolized fleeting beauty or unfulfilled promises; yet, Caden hadn't hesitated to create a memorable moment for her.
Corey’s hands clenched into fists. He produced the USB drive, holding it tightly. “Caden’s grandmother has probably seen the videos by now. What’s your next move? Are you planning to publicize these clips?”
Yolanda wiped away her tears, lifting her head, her composure restored. “Absolutely,” she declared resolutely. “With all this turmoil back home, and Caden being indifferent, solely focused on impressing a woman, why should I hold back?”
Corey remained silent, looking down. This could cause irreparable damage between Caden and the Moss family. He even considered eliminating Yolanda. Killing her might be the best solution. If that happened, Dorian would undoubtedly retaliate, eliminating Caden. That would be ideal; Corey wouldn't have to lift a finger.
He tossed the USB drive back to Yolanda. “Go ahead. Stir things up.”
Yolanda chuckled coldly. “I’ve already stirred enough. Of course, the final move is yours. We’re partners, after all. Responsibilities should be shared equally, right?”
As soon as Yolanda left, Corey called his subordinate. “Find out what Caden was doing in Terriland. I want every single detail of his activities during those nine days,” he commanded.
Silence hung heavy on the line. Seething with frustration, Corey snapped, “Why the silence? Speak up!”
To his astonishment, Caden’s voice responded. “Why are you so angry, Mr. Hampton?”
