Chapter 528:
He tried to bite the bread, but his teeth barely made a dent.
โSomething must be wrong with the oven,โ Caden declared righteously. โIโll buy a new one later today.โ
Alicia waved him off dismissively. โGive it a rest, genius. Youโre simply not meant to be in the kitchen.โ She leaned against the countertop, stroking her chin. โBut I bet you could make it in the construction industry. Youโre a natural at making bricks.โ
Caden narrowed his eyes and scowled. Alicia laughed, snatched the rock-hard bread, and tossed it in the trash. โWell then, shall we go eat outside?โ
Caden went upstairs to change, and they left. They were mid-breakfast at a quaint restaurant when he received a message from a subordinate. It reported that the Yolanda matter was resolved. She had been detained overnight; her behavior remained atrocious, and the evidence against her was overwhelming. Dorian had pulled every string and contact, but it took until dawn to secure her release. By then, she was utterly humiliated, having been stripped to her undergarments. To compound matters, a snake had appeared in her cell, terrifying her to the brink of insanity. Yolanda was unconscious and feverish when Dorian finally retrieved her.
Aliciaโs jaw dropped in shock. โYou do realize youโve crossed a line with Dorian, right?โ
โIf I hadnโt,โ Caden replied calmly, โhe would have devoured me. As for Yolanda, Iโve shown her more mercy than she deserves by not letting those thugs assault her.โ
Alicia thought of the vile video Yolanda had sent. Caden had a point; Yolandaโs actions were inexcusable, especially sending the video to Ciara. Thankfully, nothing happened to Ciara; otherwise, Caden might have resorted to violence.
โItโs all my fault,โ Alicia said guiltily. โIf I hadnโt beaten Corey up, they wouldnโt have retaliated.โ
Caden peered at her. โDid you actually hit him? With your own hands?โ
Alicia nodded. โOf course. At the time, I didnโt know who the culprit was. Even after learning it was Yolanda, I figured Corey played a part, so I taught him a lesson.โ
Caden smirked. โDid you break any bones?โ
โIโm not sure. I think I hit a few ribs and his shoulders. I restrained myself, knowing Iโd have to compensate for any major damage.โ
โIn that case, aim for his head next time,โ Caden said. โMake your trip worthwhile.โ
Alicia chuckled at his nonchalance. โYouโre really not afraid of trouble, are you?โ
Caden shrugged. โMy enemies donโt seem to fear death, so why should I be afraid of a little trouble?โ
His phone rang, interrupting them. It was Dorian.
