Chapter 599
The warm water had lulled Alicia to sleep, the familiar scent of Caden comforting her. She hadn't slept long before a nightmare jolted her awake. She dreamt Yolanda lay lifeless in a hospital, covered in blood. Grief-stricken, Dorian had spiraled, intent on destroying everything Caden had built.
Alicia sat up, trembling at the ominous vision. She was in their bedroom, dark except for the soft glow of the LED lights under the bed. "Caden?" she called out, leaning against the headboard, wiping sweat from her brow. There was no answer. Feeling trapped in the lingering dread of her dream, she leaped from the bed just as Caden emerged from the bathroom, his gray robe loosely tied, revealing his chest.
"Why are you awake?" he asked, his voice slightly hoarse, yet his tone soft and inviting.
Relieved, Alicia sank back against the pillows, too embarrassed to admit her nightmare. "I… I need to use the bathroom," she mumbled.
Caden, having just used the bathroom himself, smirked. "You had to call my name?" he teased. "Do you need my help?"
Alicia blushed crimson. "Is there any news about Yolanda?"
"Yeah, Hank said minor injuries. Just another one of her acts," Caden replied. He crossed the room, gathered her into his arms, and carried her to the bathroom.
Relaxing slightly, Alicia breathed, "Well, as long as it's nothing serious."
Caden, seizing the opportunity, swiftly removed her underwear under the pretense of assisting her. Startled, Alicia squirmed and protested, "What are you doing? Let go of me!"
"What's the big deal?" Caden said, his expression serious despite the playful tone. "This is normal between a couple."
"Stop talking nonsense! Who in their right mind would do this?" Mortified, Alicia struggled, but Caden held firm. Her efforts were futile.
