Chapter 129

Jamison’s knuckles whitened around his phone, his face turning icy cold.

“And it’s not just you who’s got issues—your nephew, his whole family, you’re all out of your minds! I’m begging you, get some help. Stop making a spectacle of yourselves!”

“Ivy, you-!”

In all his years, Jamison had never been called out and insulted like this. Fury shot through him.

But before he could fire back, Ivy hung up.

Staring at his phone, Jamison took a ragged breath, lips pressed tight, jaw clenched. Finally, he slammed the phone down on his desk.

Yet as angry as he was at Ivy, he was even more disgusted with himself.

What the hell was he thinking?

Tonight, he’d acted like a lunatic—first picking a fight with Ivy online, then calling her up just to get chewed out again.

Absolutely ridiculous.

On the other end, Ivy kept her promise the second she hung up.

She dug Micah’s number out of her blocked contacts and called right away.

Micah was with Emma, the two of them just leaving the movie theater after their date. He was about to walk her home when Ivy’s name flashed on his screen. His heart skipped a beat.

Trying to keep his cool so Emma wouldn’t notice, he answered, “Hello?”—carefully skipping her name.

Ivy, oblivious to any of this, launched straight into a tirade.

“Micah, let me say this one more time—I haven’t loved you for ages. There is absolutely nothing between us. I sincerely hope you and Emma have a long, happy life together. Please, you and your crazy uncle, stop bothering me. If you don’t, I won’t be so polite next time!”

“Ivy… What’s going on? Did someone upset you?”

At the sound of her name, Emma whipped around, jealousy flaring in her eyes.

“I’m perfectly fine, thank you very much,” Ivy spat out the words and hung up.

Micah was left bewildered, staring at his phone in utter confusion.

Emma, seeing the dazed look on his face and how he seemed reluctant to let the call go, immediately lost her temper.

“Micah! You’re still in touch with Ivy!” she shouted, yanking her arm free from his. Her voice rose, drawing the attention of people nearby.

Micah snapped back to reality, looking lost. “I… I have no idea what’s going on. Ever since Ivy moved out, we haven’t spoken. She just called to yell at me-”

“Oh, please,” Emma shot back. “If you two aren’t talking, why is she calling you in the middle of the night? If I hadn’t been here, would you have run straight to her?”

Micah felt completely wronged. “No, I wouldn’t-”

“You would! You totally would!” Emma shrieked, smacking him repeatedly as passersby stopped to stare.

Mortified, Micah could only drag Emma away, desperate to escape the scene.

The next morning.

Ivy was still asleep when her phone rang.

She groggily glanced at the screen, frowning at the name.

Rosetta.

Ever since she’d cut ties with her family and moved out, she hadn’t spoken to anyone from the Windsors.

So why was Rosetta calling her now?

“Hello?”

“Ivy, are you still in bed?”

Ivy’s voice was flat. “What do you want?”

“Oh, nothing. I just wanted to remind you that Micah is in love with Emma now. They’re getting married soon, so please stop clinging to him. He’s never coming back to you.”

Ivy couldn’t even begin to process this nonsense. She gave a cold laugh and sat up. “Are you out of your mind?”

Rosetta replied, “You called Micah last night, didn’t you? Trying to get him to come over? But he was with Emma, so your little scheme failed.”

Ivy listened, dumbfounded.

“Is that what Micah told you?”

“Emma told us. She said you’re still in contact with Micah.”

Ivy couldn’t help but laugh, the absurdity of it all making her shake her head. “Do yourself a favor and get her to see a psychiatrist. Honestly, your whole family should go before it spreads.”
