โOf course I didnโt sleep well. Iโm never coming over againโnothing beats my own bed,โ Ivy grumbled, tossing her complaints over her shoulder as she pushed the man aside and sat up to get out of bed.
Jamison made a move to get up as well, but after shifting slightly, he seemed to remember something and settled back against the pillows.
Catching his odd behavior, Ivy turned around, her face filled with confusion. โWhat, youโre staying in bed? Donโt you have work today?โ
Jamison cleared his throat, a lazy grin curling at the corner of his handsome, morning-stubbled face. โWellโฆ Iโm not exactly in a position to get up right now.โ
Ivy didnโt get it. Her gaze had been fixed on his face, missing anything unusual below. She asked, clueless as ever, โNot in a position? Whatโs that supposed to mean?โ
Jamison shot her a look, then nodded subtly toward his waist. โSeriously? You donโt see it? Iโll just wait a bit before getting upโsave you the trouble.โ
Her eyes dropped, following his gesture, and suddenly her whole face went crimson.
Mind spinning, at a total loss for words, Ivy scrambled for the bathroom, spitting out an indignant, โJerk!โ as she fled.
Jamison couldnโt help but laugh. He hadnโt even done anythingโif anything, heโd tried to be a gentleman and spare her embarrassment. And yet, somehow, he ended up the villain. Womenโimpossible to figure out.
By the time Ivy finished washing up, Jamison was no longer in bed. She remembered heโd set aside some clothes for her in the walk-in closet, so she went to look. To her surprise, even the underwear fit perfectly. As she put it on, her cheeks grew hot again. That guy had insisted he had no experience, but somehow heโd managed to guess her bra size with just a glance? What was he, a human measuring tape?
Muttering to herself, Ivy picked out a light green dress. Sheโd never bought anything in that color before, but it looked fresh and sophisticated against her skinโa perfect choice.
Chapter 306
She turned this way and that in front of the full-length mirror, pleased with how she looked. Maybe Jamisonโs taste wasnโt so bad after all. Smiling, she left the bedroom.
With finals at the end of the month and the new semester starting in September, sheโd be busy soon. She needed to get home and hit the books.
In the living room, Jamison was on the phone. When he saw her, his eyes lit up, clearly stunned by how beautiful she looked. He ended the call and crossed over to her, gaze sweeping her from top to toe. โYou look amazing. I knew I had good taste.โ
Ivy shot him a look, not missing a beat. โYou seem awfully practiced for someone who claims to have zero experience.โ
Jamison just chuckled, hands up in surrender. โHonestly, itโs my first time buying clothes for a woman. But with you, Mrs. Ludwig, anyone would look goodโeven in a potato sack.โ
Now Ivy was the one left speechless. Once upon a time, this guyโs tongue was sharp enough to kill. Now, he was all sweetness and silver words.
Just then, his phone chirped again. He glanced at the screen, his eyes brightening with amusement. โLooks like the fish took the bait.โ
โFish?โ Ivy caught on instantly. โEmma Windsor finally landed Sheridan Carter?โ
โPretty much,โ Jamison said, pouring her a glass of water and handing it over as he explained. โThey spent the night at a hotel. This morning, the paparazzi caught them together at the entrance. Itโs all over the newsโsee for yourself.โ
Ivy sipped her water, wide-eyed. โWow, what are the odds? You think Emma tipped off the press herself?โ
