Listen to this chapter:

โ€œMicah really is spoiled,โ€ Thad remarked, unable to hide his disapproval as soon as his wayward nephewโ€™s name came up.

Back at the hospital, Ivy hung up her call and turned to head down the corridor.

Her phone chimed. Glancing down, she caught sight of the notificationโ€“and paused, frowning.

Jamisonโ€™s phone was still locked, but the screen lit up with a clutter of notifications: texts, WhatsApp alerts, app updates. The newest sound was a message from WhatsApp:

[Dale Sullivan: Dr. Ludwig, youโ€™ve been MIA for agesโ€“off on a honeymoon? The group chatโ€™s on fire, but you two havenโ€™t said a word.]

Ivyโ€™s suspicion flickered.

Which group was he talking about? WhatsApp or some other chat? And โ€œyou twoโ€œโ€ฆ Who exactly did he mean?

Before she could dwell on it, a nurse pushed open the door, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Worried about Jamison, Ivy tucked her phone away and hurried into the exam room, just in time to see him waking up.

โ€œYouโ€™re awake!โ€ She rushed over, and because Jamison was lying facedown, she knelt beside the bed to speak to him. โ€œHow are you feeling? You were delirious from that fever on the way here. I couldnโ€™t wake you up at allโ€“you scared me half to death!โ€

Jamison still looked pale and drained.

Seeing Ivyโ€™s anxious, worried face so close, he managed a weak, crooked smile. โ€œYouโ€™re that worried about me?โ€

โ€œObviously! Youโ€™re my husband. If something happened to you, am I just supposed to become a widow?โ€ Ivy shot back, exasperated.

Jamison chuckled again, his eyelids drooping. โ€œItโ€™s nothingโ€“just a scratch. Your husbandโ€™s not about to abandon you.โ€

She rolled her eyes at him, though her concern didnโ€™t fade.

โ€œOh, by the way, your brother just called,โ€ Ivy added, lowering her voice. โ€œHe asked when weโ€™ll be back. I told him your wound got infected and he wants us to come home for treatment.โ€ She gazed at him, worry in her eyes. โ€œDo you think youโ€™re up for the trip? If not, we can head back tomorrow.โ€

Chapter 348

โ€œYeah, that works.โ€

โ€œThen call your brother later, let him know weโ€™ll be back tomorrow.โ€

โ€œMmโ€ฆโ€

In the exam room, the doctor redressed his wound. The pain brought sweat to Jamisonโ€™s brow.

His condition was still unstable, so the doctor recommended he stay overnight for observation. Jamison protested, insisting it wasnโ€™t necessary, but Ivy wouldnโ€™t hear of it. She insisted he follow the doctorโ€™s orders and stay admitted.

โ€œOnce your fever breaks, Iโ€™ll go back to the hotel, pack our bags, and bring everything here. If youโ€™re better tomorrow, weโ€™ll head straight to the airport from the hospital,โ€ Ivy laid out the plan as they settled into the hospital room.

Jamison was feverish and groggy. As the medication began to take effect, he shot Ivy a feeble glare before drifting back into a deep sleep.

Ivy sat beside his bed, watching over him, and let out a long, weary sigh.

How was she going to explain all this to the Ludwig family when they got back?

Mrs. Ludwig was certainly going to be furious.

Would she try to keep them apart for good?

Her phone buzzed. Ivy glanced downโ€“it was Katrina Lester.

โ€œHey, Katrinaโ€ฆโ€ she answered, moving to the window and lowering her voice.

โ€œIvy, when are you coming back? Schoolโ€™s about to startโ€“you need to check in at the registrarโ€™s office, remember?โ€

โ€œI know, I know. Weโ€™re heading back tomorrow.โ€

โ€œDid you get everything sorted out?โ€

Ivy sighed. โ€œItโ€™s complicated. Iโ€™ll fill you in when Iโ€™m back.โ€

โ€œAlright, take care. Bye!โ€

After hanging up, Ivy noticed a news alert on her phoneโ€“it was a notification from her trading app.

Chapter 348

Sheโ€™d been so tied up with Silverfenโ€™s affairs these past few days she hadnโ€™t checked the markets at all, and her behind-the-scenes maneuvers regarding The Windsor Group were on hold.

Now that she finally had a moment, she opened the app and saw that the market had tanked today.

Thinking of the โ€œStonks Only Go Upโ€ chat, she logged into WhatsApp. Instantly, a flood of unread messages popped up on her screen.
