Chapter 49
Micah replied in a heartbeat, sending a voice message: โIvy, donโt say that. As long as youโre doing well, thatโs all the comfort I need.โ At that moment, Micah felt like a paragon of selflessness, completely oblivious to the fact he was being played for a fool.
โโฆ,โ Jamisonโs usually stern face looked almost pained.
After years as a doctor, heโd seen every shade of human nature and all kinds of personalities. But heโd never met a girl with the face of an angel who could pull off something so brazenly shameless.
The more Jamison looked at Ivy, the deeper his disdain grew. He couldnโt help but feel furious with his nephew, whose sense of right and wrong seemed just as warped.
Ivy, on the other hand, was in high spirits. She logged into her online banking and increased her transfer limit, then wired the full $3.4 million for the house in a single transaction.
โAll setโyou can check your account now.โ Ivy beamed with satisfaction, tilting her chin at him, her voice light and breezy.
Jamison hadnโt expected to not only lose money on the sale but also endure this kind of attitude. He shot Ivy a cold glare, lips pressed into a thin line, then turned and strode away without another word.
Ivyโs mood soared even higher. She called after him, โThank you, Mr. Jamison. Hope we never meet again!โ
His retreating figure only seemed more frigid.
Back in his car, Jamison immediately dialed his nephew.
Meanwhile, Micah had just transferred the money to Ivy and was still basking in his own sense of virtue.
When he saw his uncleโs name flash on the screen, he answered with a cheerful tone. โUncle, whatโs got you calling me today?โ
Jamison was already fuming; hearing his nephewโs chipper mood only made it worse. โI swear, I could strangle you!โ
โStโstrangle me?โ Micah stammered, instantly nervous. โWhat did I do? I havenโt even been around you lately.โ
โListen, Micah. Cheating men never end well. If youโre a failure, thatโs just poor brain developmentโcanโt blame you for that. But if your morals are rotten too, you better hope I never cross paths with you, or Iโll break your legs!โ
With that threat, Jamison hung up and sped off toward the hospital.
On the other end, Micah was left completely baffled, staring at his phone and grumbling, โHow did I become a cheater? How am I the one with no morals? Jamison still treats me like a kidโbad mood, and he just takes it out on me! If heโs got the guts, letโs settle it face to face!โ
Of course, he only dared mutter this behind his uncleโs back. If Jamison were here in person, Micah wouldnโt dare say a word.
After leaving the real estate office, Ivy hailed a cab straight to the dealership.
Her new car had finally arrived.
A white Maserati โ elegant, stylish, and radiating class.
She paid the balance and signed the paperwork. The staff arranged a small, warm handover ceremony just for her.
Sliding into the driverโs seat, Ivy couldnโt help but smile in satisfaction. One tap on the gas, and her luxury car glided through the bustling downtown streets, turning heads wherever she went.
โWow, thatโs gorgeous. Makes my old beater look like it belongs in a junkyard,โ Katrina gasped as she walked out of the school gates, her eyes glued to her best friendโs new ride.
Ivy flicked her short hair and shot her a playful wink. โCome on, letโs take it for a spin.โ
โAbsolutely!โ
Ivy and Katrina cruised through the city, and later that evening, treated themselves to a feast at a chic downtown restaurant.
โHouse and car all sorted. Whatโs next?โ Katrina asked over dinner. โAre you still planning to stay at the Windsor place?โ
โOf course I am. Playing mind games with them is half the fun these days.โ
After yesterdayโs attempt to frame her, Ivy realized Emma was getting desperate. The coming battle would only get fiercerโand she was looking forward to it.
But thinking about how Emma kept sneaking into her room whenever she was out, Ivy paused, her mind quickly spinning with a new idea.
