Chapter 581

Ivy froze for a second, instinctively glancing back at Jamisonโ€“wait, who was he talking to? Who needed to get a checkup?

Emma was equally taken aback. She turned to Jamison and asked, โ€œAre you talking to me?โ€

Jamison stared at her, his brow furrowed in a stern, matter-of-fact tone. โ€œI recommend you get a full medical checkup at the hospital. Make sure they run a thorough HPV screening. If thereโ€™s a problem, itโ€™s best to catch it early.โ€

With that, he wrapped an arm around Ivy and briskly led her away, as if he were genuinely worried Emma might be carrying something contagious.

Ivyโ€™s mind blanked out for a moment. It wasnโ€™t until Jamison had pulled her a few steps away that she realized what HPV was. Her eyes widened as she turned to her husband. โ€œHPV? Are you saying you think Emma has HPV?โ€

Jamison explained quietly, โ€œThere are many types of HPVโ€“some low-risk, some high-risk. The low-risk ones usually donโ€™t cause any real harm, and most clear up on their own as the immune system gets stronger. But high-risk HPV is much trickier. When Emma was talking just now, I noticed a cauliflower-like growth on her tongue. Thatโ€™s not a typical mouth ulcer, so she really should get a thorough checkup.โ€

Ivyโ€™s face stiffened even more, and she couldnโ€™t help but glance back at Emma.

With Emmaโ€™s chaotic personal life, the chances of her picking up some nasty virus were pretty high.

Ivy muttered under her breath, โ€œIf she really has high-risk HPV, then Micahโ€ฆโ€

Jamisonโ€™s reply was low and serious. โ€œHe could be at risk too.โ€ Thatโ€™s exactly why heโ€™d bothered to speak up and urge Emma to get checked.

Ivy fell silent.

Behind them, Emma and her sugar daddy were still standing in place.

The sugar daddy wasnโ€™t the sharpest tool in the shed and had no clue what โ€œHPVโ€ meant, but he could read people, and something in Jamisonโ€™s words definitely set off alarm bells.

โ€œWhy did that guy tell you to get a full checkup, and whatโ€™s this about early intervention?โ€ he asked, suspicious.

Emma, on the other hand, knew exactly what HPV was. She remembered getting the best and priciest HPV vaccine a couple of years back, so she figured her chances of catching it were pretty low.

Still, as she tried to reassure herself, the stubborn sore spot on her tongue ached, making her second-guess Jamisonโ€™s warning.

Noticing her sugar daddyโ€™s suspicious stare, she forced down her anxiety and smiled. โ€œHeโ€™s a doctor, runs his own hospital. Of course he wants to drum up business and talk me into unnecessary tests. Just ignore him.โ€

โ€œIs that so?โ€

โ€œCome on, do I look sick to you?โ€ Emma arched a brow, spinning playfully in front of him, trying to look as lively as possible.

Zack eyed her, half-convinced, half-doubting.

Emma pouted, instantly wrapping herself around his arm, pressing her body close and deliberately brushing her chest against him. โ€œZack, I put up with so much just being with you, and now youโ€™re doubting me? That really hurts, you know.โ€

He snorted, not bothering to hide his disdain, and in full view of everyone, grabbed her chest roughly as he cursed, โ€œYou little tramp, you should count yourself lucky I even look at you. If youโ€™re so damn aggrieved, go find someone else!โ€

โ€œOh, come on! I was just joking, Zack. Donโ€™t you know how to treat a lady?โ€ Emma cooed, keeping up appearances for him, though inside she was getting more and more uneasy.

Everyone knew Jamisonโ€™s reputation as a doctor was second to none.

When Ivy had first been brought back, rumors had flown that she had HIV. But Jamison had taken one look at her and confidently declared she was clean.

As it turned out, heโ€™d been right all along. Ivy never had HIV.
