Chapter 722

She had agreed to leave Emma alone, and from now on, the Windsor family wouldnโ€™t trouble her again.

Zooming in on the photos, Baillie looked sharp in his suit, practically glowing with confidence. He really did have that clean-cut, boyish charm.

That wealthy older woman mustโ€™ve fallen for his looks. Honestly, that had to be it.

With the filters smoothing away her age, the photos made her look almost Ivyโ€™s peer. Standing side by side, Baillie and his new bride seemed a picture-perfect coupleโ€“handsome and beautiful, perfectly matched at first glance.

โ€œI heard that rich lady is unbelievably generous to Mr. Windsor. She bought him a luxury car and even purchased a house for the Windsor family. Didnโ€™t Windsor Mansion get signed over to your name? Maybe they couldnโ€™t stand living off a womanโ€™s charity and plan to move into the new place after the wedding,โ€ Katrinaโ€™s second voice message chimed in.

Ivy couldnโ€™t help but laugh when she heard it.

So, the Windsors really stumbled into a stroke of luck, didnโ€™t they?

Was that rich lady really head-over-heels for Baillie?

If she had that much money, wouldnโ€™t it make more sense to just date around? Enjoy the thrill of a new romance each monthโ€“much more fun than tying herself down to a single guy.

But she was actually marrying Baillie, buying him a house and a car.

โ€œIvy, what are you up to?โ€ Katrina asked after Ivy left her hanging for a while.

Only then did Ivy press the button to reply, โ€œI just left the airport. I was seeing off a friend from out of town. I saw the pictures you sentโ€“Baillieโ€™s luck is out of this world. He had nothing, and now heโ€™s marrying into money.โ€

โ€œRight? Itโ€™s insane! Oh, and Naylor wanted me to remind you: theyโ€™ll definitely try to take back Windsor Holdings. You should get ready.โ€

โ€œThanks. I know.โ€

Actually, ever since Naylor had warned her in the hospital, Ivy had already started preparing.

She was about to start her internship at Quantum Hedge Securities, and according to company rules, sheโ€™d have to stop trading stocks.

Over the past few weeks, sheโ€™d gradually sold off her shares whenever prices were high. The only problem was, Windsor Holdingsโ€™ stock had fallen so sharply that she hadnโ€™t managed to unload everythingโ€“selling now would mean a crushing loss.

But now, with Baillieโ€™s grand wedding, and to a wealthy woman no lessโ€“this was undeniably good news for the company.

With this boost, the stock price would almost certainly surge when the market opened on Monday.

Turning this over in her mind, Ivy suddenly had an idea.

She immediately called Jamison.

Luckily, he was free and picked up right away. โ€œIvy? Whatโ€™s up?โ€

He knew if his wife was calling during work hours, it had to be serious.

โ€œDid you know Baillieโ€™s wedding is today?โ€

Jamison said, โ€œYeah, I saw the invitation when it came in. But you said you didnโ€™t want to go, so I dropped it.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re going,โ€ Ivy declared, her tone uncharacteristically bright.

Jamison blinked, surprised. โ€œWhy the change of heart?โ€

Ivy explained, her excitement growing, โ€œKatrina just sent me their wedding photos. Theyโ€™re making a huge show of it, which is clearly meant to tell everyone that the Windsor family is back on their feet, that theyโ€™ve found a new patron. Thatโ€™s bound to send the stock soaring. And if I show up at the wedding, everyone will think Iโ€™ve reconciled with my familyโ€“double the good news. Windsor Holdings could hit a few upper limits in a row.โ€

If that happened, she could offload her remaining shares for a decent price.

Sheโ€™d still take a loss, but compared to where she was before, it would be a huge win.

Jamison understood immediately. โ€œThen Iโ€™ll go with you.โ€

โ€œBut youโ€™re at workโ€ฆโ€

โ€œItโ€™s a slow day. Iโ€™ll have a colleague cover for me.โ€

Jamison, ever the devoted husband, would never let Ivy walk into the lionโ€™s den alone.

Chapter 723

An hour later, Ivy and Jamison arrived at Baillieโ€™s wedding hand in hand, causing quite a stir among the guests.

โ€œIvyโ€™s here! I thought sheโ€™d skip her own brotherโ€™s wedding.โ€

โ€œWell, Emmaโ€™s gone. After all, theyโ€™re still family. Sooner or later, theyโ€™d make up.โ€

โ€œTrue. And now that the Windsors have found someone rich to back them, thereโ€™s money in the family again. People always gravitate toward profit.โ€

As Ivy and Jamison made their way in, whispers trailed behind them.

Some werenโ€™t so impressed with the Windsors, though.

โ€œEmmaโ€™s barely in her grave, and theyโ€™re already throwing a big celebration. Donโ€™t they care what people say?โ€

โ€œBaillieโ€™s not getting any younger. He finally found a sugar mamaโ€“if he doesnโ€™t lock her down now, she might just fall for someone else.โ€

โ€œThe Windsor familyโ€™s done plenty of questionable things. One more wonโ€™t matter. Besides, it was just an adopted daughter who died.โ€

That was trueโ€“the Windsors had never been known for their scruples.

Curious who had spoken up so bluntly, Ivy glanced over. The speaker instantly fell silent, flashing a sheepish smile.

On stage, Baillie and his wealthy brideโ€“just about to start the ceremonyโ€“looked genuinely surprised to see Jamison and Ivy arrive late.

The bride leaned over and whispered, โ€œIs that your sister?โ€

Baillie nodded, his expression guarded. He couldnโ€™t guess what Ivy was doing here.

Sheโ€™d been a no-show all morning. Even their parents had assumed she wouldnโ€™t come.

Yet, here she wasโ€ฆ It was a surprise, no doubt.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ Rosetta, seated down in the VIP section, shot to her feet as soon as she heard the commotion. Her icy tone made it clear: her daughter was not welcome.
