Chapter 832

As the market rallied strongly into the close, everyone in the company was stunned. Ivy had once again predicted the marketโ€™s trajectory with pinpoint accuracy.

โ€œIvy, youโ€™re incredible! How on earth did you do it?โ€ This time, her colleagues didnโ€™t hold back their praise.

Edmond was overjoyed. He announced publicly, โ€œIvy, after you graduate, I want you to officially join Quantum Hedge Securities. You can have any position you want.โ€

The senior managers were floored. A recent undergraduate being offered such a deal was unheard of. They had all graduated from top universities with masterโ€™s degrees and had to grind for years to even lead a team. And here was Ivy, being offered a top position right out of her bachelorโ€™s program.

But as much as it stung their pride, they couldnโ€™t argue with her results. She had the skills and had made the company a significant profit.

Faced with such an honor, Ivy didnโ€™t let it go to her head. In fact, on her way to work that morning, she had already decided to make a graceful exit. Today would be her last day as an intern at Quantum Hedge Securities.

โ€œMr. Shaw, thereโ€™s something I need to report. I have to go back to school to prepare for my thesis defense. Iโ€™m afraid my internship will have to come to an end.โ€

The joy on Edmondโ€™s face vanished. โ€œAre you sayingโ€ฆ youโ€™re not coming back to Quantum Hedge Securities?โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll have to see how things are after graduation.โ€ Ivy genuinely hadnโ€™t decided. She wanted to gain experience at a few different firms to better understand the industry. Her dream wasnโ€™t to be an employee, but to one day found her own investment firm.

Edmond looked disappointed, but he was a realist. He knew that with Ivyโ€™s talent and her husbandโ€™s influential family, she could aim for much bigger and better platforms. It was only natural that she might not be interested in Quantum Hedge Securities.

โ€œAlright, then. Weโ€™ll wait until after you graduate. In any case, the doors of Quantum Hedge Securities will always be open to you,โ€ Edmond said graciously, offering his best wishes.

He had wanted to throw her a farewell dinner, but Ivy declined. She disliked social obligations. Since she wouldnโ€™t be coming back tomorrow, she didnโ€™t want to waste her evening on small talk and drinks with her colleagues. After such a busy period, she would much rather go home early, read a book, and play with her cats.

Leaving work on time, Ivy knew Jamison had to work late again, so she decided to wait for him at the hospital.

It had been a while since she had visited his department, and the nurses and doctors were surprised to see her. Ivy, as generous as ever, ordered a large spread of food and drinks for the night shift staff.

When Jamison finished his work and returned to the department, he was greeted by the aroma of food. He was wondering why everyone wasnโ€™t at the cafeteria when he saw his lovely wife getting up from his desk.

โ€œIs Dr. Ludwig done for the day?โ€ Ivy asked, her smile radiant.

Jamison glanced around, noticing everyone watching them with amusement. He felt the need to maintain a professional image. โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ he asked, trying to sound serious.

โ€œWell, I got off work early, so I came to check up on you.โ€

Her words were met with a wave of laughter from the surrounding staff.

Jamison coughed into his fist, a slight smile escaping. โ€œYes, Iโ€™m done. Let me just change, and we can go.โ€

Ivy waved goodbye to everyone and went to wait by the elevators.

A few moments later, Jamison emerged.

This time, it was she who extended her hand from a distance, waiting for him to take it.

As their fingers intertwined, Jamison smiled. โ€œIt looks like you had a triumphant day. Your face is glowing with pride.โ€

โ€œOf course! Iโ€™ve never lost yet,โ€ Ivy said with a cocky grin. They stepped into the elevator, and she suddenly turned to him. โ€œWhereโ€™s your hospitalโ€™s check-up center?โ€

Jamison stared at her, understanding dawning. โ€œYou came all this way to pick me up just to drag me to get a physical?โ€

โ€œNo, I just remembered,โ€ Ivy said, then mused to herself, โ€œBut a lot of the tests require fasting, so you canโ€™t do them now. Letโ€™s go tomorrow morning. Iโ€™ll come with you. You can put your work on hold for a bit.โ€

Jamison was confused. โ€œDonโ€™t you have work tomorrow?โ€

โ€œNope. I fired my boss.โ€

โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

โ€œAfter a great victory, one must make a graceful exit. My internship is over. I need to go back to school to prepare for graduation,โ€ she explained, then turned to him with a look that was both determined and playful. โ€œSo, Iโ€™m free tomorrow. You are getting that physical!โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re not in a hurry to have a baby anymore, so why are you forcing me to get a check-up? Is there any part of your husbandโ€™s physical condition that youโ€™re not satisfied with?โ€ Jamison asked, exasperated. In reality, the hospital organized annual physicals for its employees, and his reports had always been normal.

โ€œThe hospitalโ€™s annual check-ups are in a month,โ€ he insisted. โ€œThereโ€™s really no need to rush.โ€

โ€œWell, if you have to do it sooner or later, you might as well get it done tomorrow and skip the one later. That works out perfectly, doesnโ€™t it?โ€ For some reason, Ivy was strangely insistent on this.

As it turned out, her inexplicable persistence was for the best.
