Chapter 161

Calvin fell silent. He felt so helpless that he wished he could disappear.

โ€œSienna, this is way too much. I really canโ€™t take it,โ€ Calvin said, shaking his head.

Josef knew it was a bit abrupt, but Calvinโ€™s health really wasnโ€™t great.

Just as he was about to say something, Sienna jumped in first, โ€œUncle Calvin, donโ€™t make it sound so serious. If you still think of me as your niece, just accept it, okay?โ€

โ€œDad, just take it already! This kind of thing is super hard to get. If you donโ€™t want it, give it to meโ€“Iโ€™ll sell it and split the cash with you,โ€ Josef teased.

Calvin was fuming. โ€œBrat, shut up already!โ€

Josef just grinned. โ€œSienna, Iโ€™ll take it for my dad then. Thanks a ton. I donโ€™t have much to give back, but if you ever need anything, just call me." Sienna shared a knowing smile, like a blossom bringing color to a snowy mountaintop. โ€œYou totally deserve this, Uncle Calvin."

โ€œMiss Sienna, we have an emergency.โ€ Lana came rushing over, clearly flustered. Sienna could tell right away that something bad must have happened; Lana was never this anxious without good reason.

Sienna looked back and said apologetically, โ€œUncle Calvin, letโ€™s catch up another time. I have to run. Josef, if you need anything just come find me at Hart Corporation. There are some things Iโ€™ll explain to you later.โ€

With that, she strode off hurriedly, leaving Josef watching her with stars in his eyes โ€“ she really was his idol.

โ€œDad, letโ€™s get you to the hospital! We need to get you checked out and get that injection,โ€ Josef said, urging him on.

Calvin grumbled. โ€œDidnโ€™t you just say you were going to sell it?โ€

โ€œDad, I was just kidding! Thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™d sell it. But seriously, what happened back then? Why did Aunt Selina cut ties with us?โ€ asked Josef curiously.

Calvinโ€™s eyes darkened with pain and regret as he thought about the past. โ€œDonโ€™t dig into it. Letโ€™s just go home."

โ€œMiss Sienna, weโ€™ve found Ms. Amber Hartโ€“sheโ€™s up on a mountain outside the city,โ€ Lana reported, her voice urgent.

Amber had been kidnapped. The one behind it was Jocelyn, who took advantage of Amberโ€™s kindness and played the victim to lure her in.

By the time the bodyguards caught on, she was already gone.

Lana could feel Siennaโ€™s intimidating aura pressing down on her. She lowered her head, not even daring to breathe.

โ€œUseless fool, hurry up!โ€ Sienna barked.

Reno was drenched in sweat, nerves shot as she drove. โ€œYes, Miss Sienna!โ€

On the mountain, the sky was a dull gray, heavy with the promise of rain. Jocelyn had her goons drag Amber up the slope.

Amberโ€™s eyes blazed with hatred as she glared at Jocelyn. โ€œJocelyn, youโ€™re a monster!โ€

She remembered how sheโ€™d seen Jocelyn being harassed by some thugs and, without a second thought, had stepped in to drive them away. When she saw Jocelyn covered in blood, she was so scared that she immediately tried to take her to the hospital.

But Jocelyn used the excuse of helping her pick up her phone to knock her out with drugs.

โ€œAmber, how can you say that about me? Thatโ€™s not right at all. Have you forgotten who stayed by your side day and night, teaching you everything? Youโ€™re just an ungrateful little fake!โ€ Jocelyn sneered.

Amber shot back, her voice slaking with anger. โ€œYou did it on purpose! You corrupted me on purpose! Jocelyn, I hate you!โ€

Huge raindrops pounded the ground as Jocelyn threw her arms wide, howling with laughter at the sky. โ€œHate me? What right do you have to hateโ€ฆโ€

Jocelynโ€™s twisted, crazed face suddenly lunged in close, making Amber jump in fright.

Jocelyn went on as she mocked, โ€œWhat right do you have to hate me? If anything, I should be the one hating you!
