Chapter 173
A cool, clear voice sounded in his ear, and to Aiden, it was nothing short of heavenly.
He spun around, tears welling up in his eyes, his whole body trembling with excitement. โSienna! You finally came to see me. I missed you so much, sweetheart. Iโm all better nowโcan you take me home!โ
Siennaโs face was expressionless, her gaze razor-sharp. Her cool, refined features looked like they were born never to smileโjust one glance from her could chill someone to the bone.
โDad, the doctor said your condition still needs to be observed,โ she said flatly.
Aiden shook his head desperately. โSienna, I know I was wrong, I really do. I misjudged you. But Iโm still your father, Sienna. Your mother loved me so muchโshe would want us to be a family again, wouldnโt she?โ
Sienna shot him a look; the way he was groveling now was a world apart from how he used to be.
โDad, I suggest you stay here and recover a bit longer. See? The one who was bothering you is gone now. Iโll make sure things are easier for you from now on,โ she said.
Aiden felt so helplessโhe couldnโt even cry if he wanted to, and he didnโt dare show a hint of anger.
He realized, So my rebellious daughter has known everything all along. Turns out, she was the one messing with me on purpose.
โSienna, please, Iโm begging you. I just want to go home. Will you take me back! Sienna, I swear, from now on, Iโll be the best dad ever,โ he pleaded desperately.
Sienna didnโt even bother listening to his whining. The sharp click of her high heels echoed on the floor, and with every step, Aiden felt his last bit of hope shatterโhis heart turning to ice.
From admitting his mistakes to yelling in frustration, from regret to unwillingness, Aiden had burned through every ounce of strength he had left.
His eyes went dull and lifeless as he collapsed in his wheelchair, utterly spent and broken. If I hadnโt made those choices back then, would things have turned out differently? he wondered, despair washing over him.
Meanwhile, Adrian sat in the cafe, wearing a thin shirt, his eyes constantly darting to the clock on the wall. He was on edge, waiting nervously.
Before long, Sienna walked in. She had cleared the place out, leaving just the two of them in the spacious, upscale cafe.
โMiss Enna,โ Adrian greeted her, standing up.
Sienna nodded, her expression indifferent. She was dressed in a purple outfit that perfectly complemented her unique style. As she slowly sat down, a faint, cool fragrance drifted over to Adrian, sending a chill straight to his heart.
Sienna looked at him coolly. โDo you know why I wanted to see you?โ she asked.
Adrian shook his head. Last time, heโd arrogantly tried to strike a deal with her, only to end up making a fool of himselfโhe was completely out of his league. He knew full well just how far above him she stood, but he still took a shot. Too bad he lost.
Still, he didnโt regret a thing.
โMiss Enna, Iโm guessing this is about the Winslow family,โ Adrian said, voicing his guess.
Sienna picked up her coffee, took a sip, and arched an eyebrow coolly. โGo on,โ she said, her voice calm and unreadable.
No matter how many years had passed, she still couldnโt get used to the taste of coffee, just like no matter how hard she tried to fit in overseas, deep down, she was still an Avaloren girl through and through.
โThe Winslow Group intercepted a batch of Hart Corporationโs new energy chips and teamed up with your partners to corner the market.
"It caused some trouble for your company. Before this, the Winslow Group mightโve had issues with you, but they never dared to cross the line.
"For them to make such a bold move now, someone powerful must be backing them,โ Adrian said.
Sienna looked up, her eyes dark as night. โIโll say it againโIโm giving you a chance. What can you offer me?โ she said.
Adrian clenched his fists, his head dropping, silent.
He had nothing of valueโjust the identity of the Winslow familyโs illegitimate son. And if Sienna wanted to take down the Winslow family, she didnโt need anyoneโs help because she was strong enough.
