Chapter 182
Amb grunted inwardly, "As if Iโd ever let her sleep with me. Dream on. She wishes she could get her hands on me. Not a chance."
Amber dragged her butt over inch by inch, taking forever and barely moving at all.
Winifred finally lost her patience, stomped down on Amberโs butt, and just like that, Amber shot across the bed in a flash.
โHey!โ Amber shot her a furious glare, eyes wide as saucers.
Sienna lay down in the middle, gently ruffling Amberโs hair. โAlright, time to sleep.โ
It had been ten years since Winifred last lay in the same bed with Sienna. Her heart was a tangled mess of sourness and joy, so much that she felt all wound up inside, barely able to relax.
She lay there, stiff as a board, not daring to move an inch. Sienna reached over and gently ruffled her hair. โGo to sleep.โ
Winifred, following Amberโs lead, scooted closer to Sienna, too. For the first time in a long while, it felt like her heart finally belonged somewhere.
Amber was already out like a light, but Winifred lay there, wide awake and unable to quiet her thoughts.
โWhatโs wrong? Canโt sleep?" Sienna asked gently.
โNo.โ Winifred gently shook her head.
Sienna took the chance to talk. "Winifred, I know youโre tougher than them, but at home, you can just be a kid. You donโt have to act strong all the time."
โA kid?โ Winifred thought.
Her eyes grew misty as she nodded. Maybe all her life, nobody ever thought of her as a good kidโexcept Sienna.
In her family, she never fit in. They all treated her like she was some kind of freak.
Siennaโs cool, deep gaze fixed on Winifred. She knew she had to remove that chip before it could start affecting her.
The next day, the Winslow family officially launched the war against the weak spots in Hart Corporationโs industries, causing significant disruption. Sienna knew there was someone pulling the strings behind all this.
There was no doubt about itโit was Thorn.
His childish tricks were just as nauseating as ever.
โSpread the wordโweโre going to monopolize all of the Winslow Groupโs resources," Sienna ordered.
โUnderstood.โ Lana nodded.
Meanwhile, Sheryl, who had been abroad, made her grand return to the Winslow family. Her father, Henry, was absolutely delighted with everything she had accomplishedโtruly, in his eyes, she was a onceโinโaโlifetime genius, unmatched by anyone before or after.
โIf it hadnโt been for that damn girl Sienna pulling a fast one on us last time, the Winslow family wouldnโt be in such a sorry state right now,โ he thought bitterly.
He sneered to himself, โWell, this time, itโs either Hart Corporation or the Winslow Groupโone of us isnโt making it out of this alive.โ
Meanwhile, Nathan was chilling out, totally relaxedโfeet up, watching a comedy, snacking on fruit like he didnโt have a care in the world. Life couldnโt be more comfortable.
Henry bellowed, โNathan, would it kill you to show a little backbone for once! Look at yourselfโthereโs nothing impressive about you from start to finish! Youโre not even worth a single sliver of your sister. Do you even deserve to call yourself a man?โ
No matter how much Henry ranted, Nathan just let it all go in one ear and out the other. He honestly couldnโt care lessโheโd been numb to it for years.
He shot them a half-hearted glance, barely lifting his eyelids. โOh, guess Iโm just not good enough."
โYou little bastard! Youโre gonna be the death of me! Having you was a dumb curse, you hear me? All you ever do is waste moneyโwhat else are you even good for!โ Henry exploded, his face turning purple with rage.
Nathan glanced at Sheryl, who was looking all smug and grinned. โDad, thatโs not fair. If you hadnโt had me, there wouldnโt be a Sheryl either. Weโre twins, remember? I just happened to show up a minute before she did.โ
โGet out! I donโt want to see you around here!โ Henry roared, his voice shaking with fury.
Nathan saw right through it but didnโt bother to call him out. He picked up the fruit plate and said, โHey, just a heads-upโyou can still back out now. Donโt say I didnโt warn youโif you keep this up, you might lose everything.โ
โNathan, you seem to have a lot of opinions. Why donโt you share them with us?โ Sheryl said, making a showy gesture for him to speak.
All these years, she was the only one the Winslow family could actually be proud of. Nathan was just a good for nothing playboyโhe wasnโt even in the same league as her. The only thing he ever cared about was having fun and fooling around.
Now, she was dead set on crushing Hart Corporation in one fell swoop and wiping away the humiliation from before.
Nathan shrugged. โSheryl, has anyone ever told you that being stubborn and thinking you know it all is a surefire way to lose? Overconfidence always gets people burned.โ
